recommendations between Sirrus or XM satellite??

Can anyone recommend or comment on the differences between Sirrus and XM satellite services? I am looking at getting one or the other but can't decide currently on one.

I will be listening mainly to music.

Thanks.

From what I heard XM has more channels and many many more subscribers. Seems like the majority of people pick XM.

Since you are listening mainly to music:

XM, becuase all of the music stations are now commercial free. That used to be the only thing Sirrus had on XM but not anymore. Plus XM is a few dollars cheaper each month. XM has better stations IMO, and I've had both.

Depends on what you like to listen to. I've had both also and found that Sirius plays a lot of hits based music where XM plays hits with a lot of music that you've rarely heard before. So on XM I had to switch between channels a lot to stay satisfied, where on Sirius I find that I can stay on one channel for long periods of time so I canceled xm. As far as the price, there really isn't much of a difference one you factor in equipment, Sirius tends to be cheaper in that area and they are always runing deals on 3 months free, $50 off etc.

Hi guys whats going on! Just wanted to comment on this from my own experience. My older brother runs his own car audio shop and was given XM free of charge to try out and demo it at his shop. I thought it was great and some of his installers put the system in their own rides, but after awhile they started to complain they didn't like it supposedly it had some flaws like running into dead zones where you wouldn't hear anything. I'm not sure if the company corrected this flaw, but anyhow one of his customers loves Kenwood and wanted the Sirius system installed so he did. He tested it out and liked it he even put it in his own ride. I checked it out myself and agreed. I personally think Sirius is better. My brother said if he didn't have his agreement with XM he would definitely demo Sirius. My opinion Sirius is more in tuned with what a lot of todays youth wants to hear.

I dont realy listen to the youth popular music much. Like MTV radio and top 20. I enjoy the un-cut hip hop, jazz and blues, live concerts, stand-up comedy, and mostly un-mainstream youth stuff. So my oponion could very well be biased. But, XM losing signal is complete BS. I've had my XM for about 2 years and never lost signal.

I have XM Roady in my CL and I thinks its great. Although my SRS light went off a couple off months ago and the dealer charged $90 to do the diagnostic and reset the light. The service guy claimed that XM tripped it. I think this is total BS.
Has anyone else with a Roady had the same problem with the SRS light?

My friend has a 04 TL and it comes with XM (he got 3 months free with the car). The music selection is great, but we did keep losing the signal quite often. For much of the entire Cross Island Parkway in Queens we kept losing the signal as there were trees above the car.

A co-worker had to cancel his service up here in CT due to the trees constantly blocking the signal. It an awesome idea and service, but I'd warn those who drive around areas with a lot of tree cover.

I purchased a Panavise Bracket from FireCallSirens.com (I think) for under $30 shipped. It mounts the unit securely to the dash, without adhesive.

I have the Delphi Skyfi, and enjoy the portability between home and car.

Hey Randys that sounds like a nice set up could you e-mail me those pics. Have you had any problems set up that way with
the antenna inside rather than it being outside. Heres my e-mail:

I had my XM Commander installed in the sunglass tray as well and the antenna is installed above the tray inside, so there is no way to tell it is install if the sunglass tray is closed.

I do lose signal in areas like under overpasses and such, and trees are a problem with trailers on trucks. When I do long drives I dont have a problem with the signal. In Wyoming almost every car has it installed since they get very few stations.

Sirius also has the advantage of NFL, NHL and Nascar events being broadcasted.
