recall notice

Just got a recall notice today. 2003 CL....

The engine's front camshaft was made to an incorrect desgin specification. Because of this, the engine does not produce its specified power above 4,000 rpm. To correct this condition, the front camshaft must be replaced.

my scanner is not working, but that is exactly what it says...might be just the CLP because the letter doesn't say anything about a type S

I assume this is going to affect the TL-P's as well because they have the same engine.

I checked for a recall on Acura's Ownerlink (https://www.ahm-ownerlink.com/login.asp?brand=acura) and nothing came up. Not sure if non-safety related recalls will show.

Can you confirm ch1276?

Front camshaft? I'm no mechanic, but that implies there's a back camshaft, and the J-Series V6's are SOHC. It sounds bogus.

SOHC/DOHC is per cylinder bank...

More details on the recall please. I guess it hasn't hit the NHTSA db.

Pic/scan would be cool so we know who's affected.

He is right about this recall.. I have friends that are mechanics at the acrua dealership in wilmington NC and i was there the day they got the paper work on it. It only pays the mechanic for 3 hours..so i guess it should only take a day to do. It only affects CL-P..not even the TL-P..which my mother has. The engines are actually manufactured in different places for each car..strange huh. The recall affects some where in the neighbor hood of 10,xxx cars.

Hope this helps.

Des,

called acura client services @ (800) 382-2238...gave them my VIN and the guy said my car is not part of the recall. he could not give me the range of VINs affected so if you want to make sure, call the number and give them your VIN. they should be able to tell you.
