Reason for different size rims on the CL-s and TL-S...

I went to my local Acura dealer over the weekend to look at the new 2002 TL-S. This is a very nice car!

I have read that the TL-S rim is only 6.5" wide where the CL-S rim is 7" wide. Looking at the cars side by side you can really tell the difference! Personally I think the TL-S Rim/Tire combo looks better than the CL-S.

The tires on the CL-S are almost perfectly flat with the lip of the rim. The Tires on the TL-S are wider at the tread than at the lip of the rim, a slight mushroom effect. Not only does this look better (in my opinion) but TL-S owners will have far less problems with scratched rims than CL-S owners.

ATTN: all you members of the scratched rim club! At first I wondered "why would they use a different width rim?" But I think I have figured it out!

Just put 225s on your stock CL-S rims.

After seeing some good 225/45 and 235/45s save some wheels, you may be very right.

I agree, as I pointed out here http://www.acura-cl.com/ubb/Forum1/HTML/003085.html previously.
