Rear Window Tinting

hi pple.. i guess this is my first post on the board, although i have been browsing around for quite some time now!. just wanna start off by saying this is a wonderful forum and many of the posts were very helpful!.

i recalled that this question has been asked before, but since the search functionality was disabled and i kinda need an answer to it asap, so here it is again:

i just got my windows tinted and apparently, the rear window was tinted around the brake light. i asked them why didnt they remove the brake light before tinting, and they said, it was too much work. (ie. removing the seats, the rear speakers, etc..) i just wanna know if this is true, or are they just too lazy to go an extra step?..

many thanks!

It is true. I'm planning on getting tint before this summer as well, but I'm gonna pull out my back seat first (with the help of people around here).

Welcome to the Forum.

Yes, you have to remove the entire rear seat and the rear parcel shelf to get at the brake light.

I’m getting my windows done next Saturday and I’ll be doing all this on Friday night.
My tint guy said he wouldn’t do it because he would be liable for damages/scratches to the interior.
If I wanted the entire window done I had to remove the parts myself.

Ah! And Shawn's volunteering to take pics and give step-by-step instructions, right Shawn?

Actually, my one friend is coming over to help me.
There will be BEER, PIZZA and plenty of loud AC/DC music playing on my new garage AUDIO SYSTEM.

I’m not sure if the camera will be coming out to play.

When they tinted mine they removed the rear seats, deck tray and the side pillars.

thanks for the quick responses! i guess i will have to live with an un-tinted brake light then. sounds like impossible for me to remove my back seats and parcel shelf, plus removing the tint from the rear window and have them re-tint it again. (okay.. i am dreaming!) Anyhow, thanks guyz!

You could probably remove the shelf and them have them put a small piece of tint in there over the area by the light.
It won’t look as good as a 1-piece, but better then a cutout.

If you have a wing theres a brake light on there. So you dont need the one in the back.

It looks 100% fine without tinting over the brake light. In fact, I like it better this way:
