rear view sux when backing up

Just noticed, when I put my car in reverse and backup, even if I turn my head 180 degrees to the right, the view is still limited. I almost hit a car when backing out from parking lot. Can't see sh*t in the back !!!!!! I guess all sports cars are like that ....

Come on ! Japanese Honda's, because there are NO Acura's, all but have mounted camera's and Navi's with those options ! Why don't we get them, because the Japanese laugh at us Americans driving deprived Acura's ! Don't you get it ?

Time for the hot tub !

Part of the problem is that the rear shelf totally hides the trunk lid so you have no idea how close your bumper is to hitting something. A spoiler helps a lot. I'd also like it if the driver side mirror tilted down too.

You guys don't know what bad is until you drive a Dodge Intrepid. My previous car was an Intrepid. It was a good car but it was a pain to parallel park. The rear view was horrible. The CL is a breeze when compared.

i would install a backup camera except theres nowhere to put it!

typically, you replace the keyhole on the trunk with a camera.

but we have no key hole.

and im definately not about to drill into my trunk for it...

maybe if i ever get some bumper damage then will be the time to install a camera in the bumper or some real backup sensors.

That's what the spoilers are for. Who said spoilers are useless on FWD cars? They are useful one way or the other.

I also think the CL-S is fine to see out of. I also had a big car before this, a 300M. Almost the same views as the Intrepid. I have no problems backing up, or paralling parking in the CL-S. Even when I didn't have the spolier.

No spoiler

I think CL-S with spoilers look cheap. But it looks good on black only. My silver w/o spoiler looks so much cleaner.

I don't think there's anything cheap looking about this:

agreed!!!

a CL with no spoiler looks naked, strange, and too much like a Solara!!

a CL spoiler completes the back as good as, if not, better than the Infiniti J30's spoiler completed its back

hey, we are discussing rear view, not spoilers. The rear window is to narrow in hight, and u can't see sh*t on the sides in the back..... have to be very careful when parking, can easily hit something

easy way to figure out when to stop backing up is to use the T.H.U.D. method.

It's simple, just back up very slowly until you hear a thud....then stop. Once you hear the thud that means you can't back up anymore.

yep yep yep, another problem solved.

You forgot the last part of the THUD method. Place stack of $100 bills on the other guy's windshield.

Come on ... the rear view is not that bad Granted, it's not the greatest.
I drove a 300ZXTT. The only thing I could see out the back was a spoiler and the sky.

I have an idea but I live mostly in the world of fantasy...

Could that DVD decoder thing used to watch movies through the NAV be hooked up to a small camera mounted above the rear plate (like the Infinity) which is activated either manually or when reverse is selected?

I like it!!!
