Question rear view mirror light

hey guys i just bought a 2001 cl-s about 3 weeks ago and i just found out that a light is supposed to come on when i push the auto button on my rearview mirror, i was messing with the functions in the car and noticed that nothing comes on when i push the button on the mirror but i read in the manual that a light is supposed to come on indicating that auto dim is on, now before i go crying to a dealer nearby is there anything i should check for like a fuse or something like that, also the warranty was transfered over to my name but is a rearview mirror something that a silver package warranty will cover??

does the mirror actually dim though, despite the light not coming on?? I mean, the light not coming on would still bug me enough to go get it fixed even if the mirror still dimmed. But id be much quicker to get it fixed if the dim wasnt working either.
