Rear spoiler

I am being drawn into the vortex and I am thinking about breaking down and buying a spoiler. I need advice. There is an aftermarket spoiler that is supposed to be pretty good. Who is the manufacturer and what is their web address if any? Are the color matched when you buy them or do they have to be painted? Any help would be appreciated.

Don't do it!!!

IMO, the CL-S looks better without the spoiler.

Don't "spoil" the looks of your car......

I may not because of cost. I'm a cheap bastard anyway....

What happened to your CL-S? I missed the thread somehow.

I think tom had either an accident or sold, anyways. I think the only color that looks good w/out the spoiler is PDG. anyother color, the back just looks naked w/out the wing. JMO.

gto,

To make a long story short, my CL-S was totaled. It was hit by a delivery van while parked on the side of the street. It took a hard enough hit to be considered totaled by the insurance company.

For now, I'm just driving the M3.

IMO, the rear spoiler enhances the look of the CL-S. Without it, I think it looks too much like a family car.
Keep in mind that all spoilers are drag devices and slow the car down after certain speed. What that speed is depends on the characteristics of the sopiler and car. But at the same time it could make the car more stable at high speeds.
The bottom line is that very few street cars need a spoiler. It is really just for looks, so it,s a matter of personal taste.

I am not aware of any aftermarket spoilers for the CL-S.

I also like the look without the wing, but was thinking about getting it just to make it easier to park in reverse, I think it would allow you to see where the long trunk is better. I still haven't gotten a really good sense of the cars length, maybe that's why I wanted something smaller.

Tom2 - Dang Tom, that's too bad. I hope you made out okay on the insurance side. I had mine slammed last June by a 1987 Ford Blazer in a hit and run. Somehow they are never the same after a hit.

Beach-CL - I never drive fast enough to have the effects of the "spoiler" mean anything anyway. Not fast enough to slow me down and not fast enough to generate any down force. My ex-wife said they called 'em spoilers for a good reason....spoilers. Anything I did would be for looks anyway. I know there is an aftermarket supplier and it's about $250 or so but that's all I remember.

IMHO, only the red looks good with a spoiler. If I would have gone with any other color, I wouldn't have got one.

I wouldnt have bought the car without the spoiler on the back. Looked too much like a honda without it. I like the looks of the silver with the factory spoiler. Go with the factory spoiler...

I think the spoilers look good on any color. I have a spoiler on my black car, and I think the car wouldnt look as good without it. Each to their own I guess.

I had my car without the spoiler for a few months, loved how it looked without one. But when my spoiler came in and was installed, loved how it looks now. I like em both.

BTW, that gold CL-S with those rims looks pretty sweet!

I'm almost positive I have one... that's from a NoVa meet a long time ago... I am at work right now so I don't have a copy of one on this computer but I'm almost positive I copied a better pic of that one because I liked it so much...

surprised nobody knew about the aftermarket spoiler, i have it, and i think it looks better than factory, if you look REALLY close you will see a nicer curve in the aftermarket one...

but anyone else would not tell a difference..

its a GREAT AFTERMAKET spoiler, the boys at my dealership couldnt tell the difference between my spoiler and a Acura spoiler which costs more than double the price...

Here is the website: www.sportswing.com or www.sportwings.com i think the first one...

FAST SHIPPING too.

I am very satisfied, its colour was a PERFECT match too.

I didn't get the spoiler when I bought the car because I liked it without the spoiler. However, the more I thought about it and saw other CL's with spoilers I decided that it looks better with it.
