The defroster metal lines in the back are missing for the middle third. I think that the previous owner may have had tint and the dealer ripped it off. I bought it about a month and a half ago from a Mercedez-Benz dealership (Smythe European) on Stevens Creek Blvd in Santa Clara/ Sunnyvale / San Jose (not sure).

Do you think i have a chance in them replacing the rear window for free? ( I assume theres no way to replace the missing metal..)

If the dealer won't repair it, try going to Pep Boys or Kragen and ask for metal conductive paint which is used to repair defroster line "gaps" ... may need to be special ordered.

If that doesn't work, perhaps a window tint place may be able to help you locate it, or better yet, a body shop.
