Rear deck rattle....any fixes???

I'm sure some of you have encountered the rear deck ratttle. Sounds like it is coming
from somewhere near the upper brake light housing on the rear speaker deck. Has anyone had this fixed and what is the fix??????

if you're talking about the upper break light sometimes hitting the glass ( specially when you play bassy(?) music ), what i did was loosened the screws in the trunk holding the upper break light, pushed the break light slightly away from the glass, then tightened the screws. that seemed to have gotten rid of any unwanted noise coming from the rear deck.

I just had my 7500 mile service done.

Well, I have the rear deck rattle (going over bumps and while playing music with bass).

I wedged 2 suction cups between the brake light housing and the glass and the rattle disappeared, except when going over really uneven road!

I told the service dept how I got rid of the brake light rattle and ask them if there is anyway they can help me with it as I do not want to drive with 2 suction cups on the glass.

Well, the service advisor knows sh*t but luckily, the mechanic who worked on my car knew what to do when he saw my solution and he installed ACURA FELT TAPE on the bottom of the brake housing and NO MORE RATTLE.

Plus side : The rear deck also can't be pushed down seeing a 1/4 inch gap anymore...
thus, music with strong bass does not produce any more feedback from deck rattles.

thats the one I came up w/ but Droideka posted the pics.

Not trying to crack on a newbie but we have great database of alot of problems and if u need first try searching for key words like rattle in this case.

Welcome to the fourm!

i had a rear deck noise issue myself, but the mechanic lubed the trunk pop-up lever and that fixed it.

I had that annoying rattle too. The dealer said that they've heard of it but had no "fix". I remembered reading the suction cup post and decided to fix it myself - I used the small black self stick things for the bottom of chairs and stacked 3 together and used needle-nose pliers to wedge them to the bottom ends of the brake light housing (right by where the deck meets the plastic on the housing)- it worked perfectly and you can't even tell they're there.

I posted this suggestion earlier, but here's another look. I used narrow strips of speaker box carpet to fill the gap btwn the glass and rear deck.

Unfortuanately there are no official fixes for the rear deck NVH concerns from Acura. It would seem that the dealers are left to figure out solutions like felt tape etc.on our own.But I hold out hope that Acura will address the issue. However if all of you are fixing the noise on your own that means that there are less warranty claims against the problem hence Acura assumes if there are only a few claims then there must be nothing wrong.Mind you I think it's cool all of you take the time and effort to come up with these various fixes on your own,now let's see if Acura can if not anything else copy one of these ideas and make an official fix.Jens
