rear brakes?
how often should rear brakes need to be replaced?? I have about 40k miles on my car, already had the brakes replaced once and rotors resurfaced at about 15k under warrenty, and now the dealer (a diff. dealer) is telling me i need to have the rear brakes replaced (for about $250) and rear rotors resurfaced.

That sucks dude. Mine had to be replaced last month at 48k. I have no idea why either. Front brake to rear breake wear should be 2:1 since the fronts do most of the work.

yea thats what i figured, I have a friend that is at about 100k and he is just changing his rear brakes now (on a altima). Having to change them 2 times in 40,000 miles seems rediculous to me .Granted he drives mostly highway and i drive mostly nyCity, but still rediculous.

I just changed my rear pads at 82,000 miles.
A lot will depend on your driving style and how much city driving you do.
The pads have an audible wear indicator - you should hear a screeching sound when the pads have worn down, indicating that they should be replaced.
