What I heard from the dealer is:
Horsepower upgrade
VERY Limited production run
Body Style changes

As for the MSRP bit, that’s what its going to be for a while and I think you all know how much I LOVE the SLUSH-BOX.

That's the price you pay.

BTW…They told me 24K for my car on a Trade-In if the new car would somehow magically appear tomorrow.
It will be adjusted accordingly for mileage at time of delivery.

Better then I expected actually.

I got stuck paying MSRP too, but I needed my car ASAP and got it 3 months later.

Someguy; Looks like P is his middle Initial, the rest is whited out.

Good Luck with it Shawn, at least you wont have to worry about A/T trouble like the rest of us.

True.... Ok, correction coming

Clutch pedals? I don't need no stinking clutch pedals!

Yes, and the slush-box has tons of clutches. Stacks of clutches in the clutch packs. So, the first response is correct too!

I am right with you - so they actually have your order in now or just took a deposit? I plan to put my order in before the end of the week as soon as my Acura dealership gets the paperwork for their allocation or whatever ...

They were expecting delivery in a late Feb or early March time frame ...

The order is in.
They said I should have a VIN sometime in January.

There is no guarantee of a delivery time right now because it depends on what colors they are building and if they have NAV or not.

I don’t think they can actually “ORDER” the car from the factory at this time.
It’s just a matter of how my request fits into the build schedule.

It’s too early to tell at this time.
Hell, I don’t even know what the thing is going to look like.

Shawn S

PS....acura_service, Can you throw us a BONE here ???

Sounds good man!

Once we have some 6speeds, we can mod them with SCs and stuff and they should hold up just fine.

Then it's time to hunt Bimmers and Maximas.

Heh heh...i hope the girl I passed this morning doesn't find out about a 6-speed. She had a nice blue non S type. I was about to give her the thumbs up as I passed her when I looked over to see she was eating a bowl of cereal with milk, ON THE HIGHWAY, at about 70 mph....Instead I flipped her off for being so totally ignorant to eat a bowl of CEREAL w/ MILK while driving. No hands on the wheel of course, and in moderate traffic. She got pissed and stomped it...trying to cut me off at the next exit....

Hmm she should have bought the type s.....meanwhile..i wonder if milk comes out of leather..I wish I could have heard her cussin me out when I inadvertantly braked after getting in front of her at the exit....70 mph to 20 in about 4 seconds...yeah , i think that's a cow tosser if I ever felt one..heh heh heh

Has anyone ever seen anything so ignorant....lol of course, if I had a 6 speed, then I would have passed her much quicker and probably wouldn't have noticed that she was eating her breakfast...

Steve

on the upside..SHAWN...where will u be parking the six speed, how many bolts hold the tranny in, and is there an adapter kit for converting auto to man..heh heh heh

Only if you don't know how to drive a stick properly. Clutches should last well beyond that. Besides, a clutch job is a lot cheaper than a new auto tranny.

Don't be so sure about that -- the 92 Maxima SEs have pretty weak clutches in the manual.

However, throw-out bearings and clutches are a LOT easier and cheaper to deal with then manual trannies too!

"mid" west is the rust belt. CO is in the west, as in Western Athletic Conferance, Rockie Mountain West, Etc.

wow---

Gl Shawn---
Seems like a helluva hit you will be taking for the 6 speed and some extra ponies.... (I am guessing about 10k)---
If I had the choice of taking the car with the SS for the 27,500 I paid for it...(with nav and spoiler) or 32-34000...with 6 speed...well...I think I would choose the SS everytime..more money for my house ---but if I had the money to spend I would prolly get a bmw330i.....

Very true and your calculations are correct.
BUT....I did get 18-months of enjoyment out of the car. That has to count for something.

AND...I’ll get even more out of this one.

You gotta PAY if you wanna PLAY.

Did the dealer have any idea what the cost of the car will be? How much do you think it will cost?

heh

you are correct---I think I will play in a smaller playground than you! For now However in about two years or so I just might have to purchase me a 350hp 6 speed CL-S 2003 leftover for 3000 below cost! Then we will see who has the bigger, badder swingset! ...heh--- Good luck with it man!

OH CRAP, I knew I forgot something.
JK.....Nope, NO idea.

But seriously, unless they make MAJOR upgrades, I expect it to be 32-34 w/NAV.
If they go higher it will chase too many people to BMW & others.

I was speaking with an Acura factory rep about the manual, and he mentioned that Acura will be looking at warranty claims for clucth and tranny failures in these VERY carefully. They will check stored data in the ECM:
RPM
Speed
Yaw rates, etc.

So if they see a speed of 0, an RPM of 6000, it will scream "Hole Shot!" and they might not honor the warranty. Just a heads up. Not sure of the data are stored ion SRAM,PROM or what, so cannot tell you if dropping fused power to the ECM willo cloear it - probably not.

This is going to be a trend, and indeed some GM cars involved in serious litigation have had the data dumped.

Forensic auto research - cooming soon to a shop near you!

Welcome to your nightmare.
