Rattling problems are really bugging me.

I've had my CL-P for almost 3 months now...and although I love my car...theres a few dissapointments...primarily the rattling issues. I'm getting all kinds of squeaks and rattles...I didn't think I'd fall prey to this..even though I heard about it online...I get the following squeaks..

1. Airbag/Front Dash area
2. Passenger seat, only when someone is sitting there.
3. Sunroof
4. Trunk area

Jeeze, what gives? I didn't spend close to $30K for a car thats not solid!

So what can the dealer do about this? It seems they would think I'm nit-picking?

What are you folks experiencing as far as rattles are concerned?

How have your dealer experiences been?

I have rattling in my trunk area only because i have a 12" sub and AMP. Other than that i have noticed no other rattling. I am pretty sure your local dealership would be happy to look them over. It could be something major. Better have it checked out now, then before its a major problem..

Unless the rattle is easy to replicate, good luck with the dealer. You usually get the car back with "unable to replicate problem" on the RO. Having the tech that's going to repair the car drive with you so s/he can hear the rattle or squeak usually helps. I have an MDX and a TL-S and have managed to avoid this for now. Good luck.

Do a search on rattles. I think you'll find a fix for all but the seat.

you have the rattle in the passenger seat when someone IS sitting there, or ISN'T sitting there?
i know there's a squeak between the back part and the bottom part of the seat when someone isn't there that sounds kinda like a rattle.

as for the trunk, it's probably the rear center break light vibrating against the glass (2 min. fix), the dealer should also know about this one if you tell them where it is (took me 2 weeks to find and 2 min. to fix with rubber bumpers purchased at walymart).

the front airbag/dash area is probably in the passenger or drivers fuse box section.

and the sunroof is the rubber seal squeaking on the painted part of the sunroof opening when the sunroof is closed. the dealers should know about this one.

these rattles have nothing to do with the "solid"ness of the car. you paid $30k for a pretty solid car (you will realize this after you eliminate the rattles).

There's a fairly big list of rattles and known solutions in my FAQ.

Don't think passenger seat has a solution, but it'll give you a list of things to search for in your dash rattle.

In my case, the passenger seat rattle was nothing more than the leather of the back of the seat squeeking on the leather of the bottom of the seat. My quick fix was to cut a strip of cloth off of on old t-shirt and stuff it in the gap between the back and bottom (where your butt goes) of the seat.

the passenger seat rattle is definitely when someone is NOT sitting there.

I've found that you could also put the seat in more of a reclining position to stop the 2 sections of the seat from rubbing together and causing the squeaking !

I've got a new one I haven't read out before...

Consistent rattle behind the climate control facia. Slight pressure on the area under the temp. display quiets it. It also seems to go away after 15 mins of driving.

I'm taking it into the dealer tomorrow for that (it's easily repeatable) and the infamous BRAKE SHUDDER.

We'll see what happens. I'm hoping they hook me up with an RSX for a loaner.
