Rattles are back...

It got down to 32 degrees when I got out to the car this morning, and I had to brush the dusting of snow off the car.

As I drove down the road, I noticed the rattles were back with a vengence... Seem to be coming from the drivers door and dashboard. Worst then last winter... My CLS only rattles once and awhile when it's above 40, but under 35 degrees it's worst. This morning was the worst I've heard. Even with the radio cranked up, the rattles were still annoying

One of these days I'm going to buy a real car

Killer, I know you don't have rattles in your car, 'cause it's always 70 degrees down in FL, so don't bother mentioning it

My driver's window does that when it's really cold. It's really friggin' annoying! I notice though, if I push down on it a little most of it goes away. It's not really a rattle persa, it;s more of an annoying creakin' sound.

I think I have rattles coming from all the stuff inside my car, but nothing too terribly bad. My speaker deck rattles in the back, had the grille over one speaker replaced, still does it. I probably don't notice them as much as I used to.

In NJ it is supposed to be in the 60's next week, not sure about Mass though.

Probably the window requlator (adjust to tight or too loose, or needs replacing)... RedCL (may he rest in peace) told me to tweek the door frame (by pulling on it) and it seems to quiet it down for awhile.

I don't want to bring the car to the dealer 'cause I'm afraid what they might mess up... I've never been the same since they adjusted the parking brake and the rear brake pad needed changing after 7500 miles (22K on car).

It's fucked up when you own a $30K car, but would rather work on it yourself instead of handing it over to the monkeys at the dealership for $65 an hour...

I'm going to use some matchbooks to see if I can locate the source of the rattles by wedging the matchbooks in various locations till the rattle stops, and then try to figure out what to do from there...

As much as I hate to get rid of the CLS (the depreciation curve is leveling out now), it might be time to move on to something else.

I refuse to take my car back to the dealer unless something major breaks. That window I speak of already has a new regulator in it. It was installed by the dealer. Upon the install somewhere along the line, they scratched the door lock on the top of the door panel. They replaced it 2 weeks later for me. One week later, I notice the door is taking on water and it's staining my speaker grill. I take the car back, complain, they try to correct it and said it was just this plastic cover and they tried to put it back in place. Got car back, it was filthy from the Tech with dirty spots all over the door panel. A week and a half later, I'm washing the car and noticed the speaker grill damp again, saw water sitting on plastic door sill whe I went to open the trunk. HA! the trunk...... At the same time, when i went to push in the trunk button, I noticed it's now all screwed up. it looks like it had a short or something and melted. Funny though, 'cause it still pops the trunk. I refuse to take the car back. I hate Acura service.... I'll never buy another one.

Not to hijack but here where I live, the resale of a 3.2CL is pretty decent (Type-S), especially in a 6spd. You just have to find the right buyer. And as much as I love the car, I'm thinking of going Audi or possibly an older M3. I really do love the car though so it's tuff.

i'm having some rattling going on myself. but mine sounds like its coming from the engine bay. i swear i hear it coming from through the AC ducts. i'm kinda wondering if it's my engine mounts but then i don't know what those sound like when their gone or on their way.
i may not have cold temperatures as you East coast guys, but it does this mostly at night where it gets to be a cool 60/high 50's.

Mine does the came thing. As the temp drops, the rattles increase. I just turn up the volume now. I've tried almost everything else.

have yall ever tried to put a light coat of lubricant on the rubber door seals? I just used some leather conditioner. I didn't want it to be too shiney.

If you do make sure you get around the doorsill and around the door as well. If they have grit in the cracks clean it out first. This won't take care of all the rattles but it will help.

Nothing personal, but I find both of those hard to believe.

Update

Most of the rattles have gone away

After trying to find the rattles for the last week, it dawned on me that it could be the plastic fuse box cover (passenger side, open the pass. door to see it)...

I pulled that sucka off, and stuck it in the glove box... NO MORE RATTLES... I'll put it back where it belongs next spring when it's warmer out...

It drove me , but I figured it out
