The rattle is....
Anyone still experiencing that stupid ass rattle when the front passenger seat is unoccupied? I stuffed a rubber/vinyl elbow support brace (folded like a sandwich) and stuffed it between the back and bottom seat cushion. It still rattles but very slight.
Is there a permanent fix? I suppose this exists in the 2002 model? I searched and didn't find any dealer fix or TSB on this one defect.
Anyone with a 2002 model have this type of defect?

Unfortunately, I don't believe there is a permanent fix for it. The dealer is basically CLUELESS when it comes to this problem.
MY solution has been to put the passenger seat in a pretty far back RECLINING position. Perhaps doing that as well as stuffing something between the seats can eliminate it altogether ...
short of the ultimate fix -- keeping a 300lb CHICK in the passenger seat !

I think I may have experienced the same thing. My noise did not start until I removed the seats for stereo installation.
I would suggest torking the seat mount bolts. Two in the front two in the back. This worked for me.

Speaking of rattles... I have three known rattles. One from the passenger side that sounds like the door, one coming from the left part of the dash, and the last one is coming from the rear deck lid - possibly the speaker cover. Does anyone have solutions?

i think i have it... my passenger chair vibrates violently on bumpy roads and rattles like crazy
the dealer said "there's no fix at this time" and sent me on my way
they also got cheap on me, and said they "lubricated the sunroof" when i complained it was squeaking.. as i heard, there's teflon tape you're supposed to put on it?
well.. it still squeaks, and i hate my service people..
i'm gonna try another dealer next time..

Has anyone found a solution for the rear-window rattle I saw posted here a while back? My TL started to do this a little while ago and it's annoying as hell. If I reach back and press up on the upper portion of the rear window it goes away.
Any ideas?

With regards to the rear window rattle, I found it to be the brake lite was ever so slightly removed from the rear window itself 'causing a rattle. If I push on the brake lite, the rattle goes away. What I did to solve this was take a tiny piece of (black) velcro (the soft side), fold it and place right in the middle of the brake lite where it would normally meet the rear window. This will cease the friction between the window and lite. Hope this works for you.
