Ran a modified GS-R... then almost had a heart attack.

One of my buddies had a modified '97 GS-R. I/H/E, suspension mods, wheels/tires, kit, system, etc, etc. The whole nine yards.

We were on our way to get some food and we came up to a red light. He was in front of us, and he moved over to the right lane. And we were next to each other. His car was just gutted out earlier today, whereas my car had full interior plus a passenger. Slight weight advantage to him, but whatever. Run what ya brung.

So on green, we were off. I spun off those damned white lines and lost ground a little bit. He had a pretty decent launch and we took off like a bat out of hell. I quickly made up the lost ground, but after 40, we were DEAD EVEN. His front bumper was at my front passenger door and neither of us was pulling. We stayed like that 'til up to about 100 and we shut it off. I was PISSED.

Pulled into this parking lot to turn around, which happened to be a trailer park. Dang. I was about to throw it in reverse and back out when I saw a cop car flying down the street. I quickly turned all my lights off, popped it in park and released the brake. I was in the dark (8:30 or so at night) and the cop didn't see me or my friend. Stayed there for about 30 seconds, then we pulled out and drove like hell to the restaurant.

My hands were shaking and I had an adrenaline rush. Two more cop cars flew by, then another. Another cop going in the other direction... all of them apparently trying to find us. Wow. It was crazy. I'm never doing that again.

I was lost in the moment and kept pushing it because I was pissed that I wasn't gaining on him. I drove with absolute disregard to other motorists on the road and a slight mistake on my or others' part could have ended up in a tragic accident.

My friend and I both agreed that we're never doing this sort of stupid shit again, and that we're gonna take it to the track for bragging rights.

Aside that point, it was still a good race. Now I need more mods to beat him.

Nice run. If they were indeed after you then that was one close call.

Unless that cop isn't trying to "clock" you or isn't on the right angle - YOU'RE CAUGHT! Nobody has reflexes faster than the speed of light, which is also the speed of RADAR signals. And LASER is even harder to beat 'cause its so much more directionally acurate.

nice run and yeah be careful. I'm not one to talk but I try and pick my "races". For example...saw a stang GT (sounded and looked sweet as hell) and a 540 get at it on the highway and wanted to join in but too much traffic and they started weaving in and out. I refrained because that shit is just flat out dangerous. Same night was on an empty, straight 4 lane road (2 each way) accelerating from a light when a C-class (probably a 240, maybe a 320) takes exception and accelerates to not let me pass...so I smoked him in third...let him catch up after slowing down, see him punch it and this time I am low enough to drop it to 2nd so I really smoked him. All this but I only took it to about 80 in a 45 (still bad no doubt)

I never race in traffic. If to race someone means weaving in and out of traffic, then there's no question that I won't do it.

This time, the street was completely empty. But there's also the possibility of a car pulling out or someone walking across the street.

Anyway, in Michigan, most cruisers are equipped with Radar and LIDAR. A lot of them just leave it on while driving around, which is nice because my radar detector goes off warning me that there's a cop approaching.

Well, either my buddy's GS-R is a freak or your car is a freak, then.

I'm going to the track on April 7th. I'm anxious to see how I'll do. Hopefully I'll have the SR headers by then.

From what I've seen, Black-CLS's car is freakishly fast.
