Ran a Boxster S

It just happened, this guy in a blue Boxster S pulls next to me at a light, and I rev my engine at him. Next thing you know the light turns green and we start, but not form a stop, but at 20. I have no idea why he wanted to go from a roll but it was fine by me...20 is right in our sweet spot. We are dead and I mean dead even till about 70, where he started to pull to about a 1/4 car lead. We shut it down because of the next light and traffic. I couldn't believe that I just went toe to toe with a Boxster S Before you guys start...I know it was a Boxster S because of the red brakes and on the back it said Boxster S. :P I'm convinced that the Boxster S is not that much faster than our cars...at least not to 70 that is.

I find this hard to believe with JUST a CAI. He probably wasn't on it all the way if this is true.

just remember that if you had gone from a standing start he would of had you.

front engine front drive is much slower on the launch than mid engine rear drive.

but to give credit where credit is due.. good kill.

Why is it so hard to believe? Like I said we only went to 70, and it was from a rolling start...he still won the race.

M5 Lite,

Going that skeptical route again?

C'mon man!

Even after the guy said he lost anyway.

Is this how you want to spend your time on this board?

Agreed. Not saying I don't believe Black CL-S, of course, but same driver and same conditions, a Boxster S is way out of the CL's league.

I say that the CLS cannot beat the boxster S from a roll is because I've dealt with one before (he lived on my block at my last house). In my M3, I was never able to take him off the line or anywhere as a matter of fact. I think those things do 0-60 in like 5.2 and the quarter in 13.7 @ 102MPH stock.

Good to see you give him a run for his money, BCLS4L...

Way too many Boxsters in Houston for my taste, both S and plain...

Hey nice race man, I raced a non-S and beat him to 70. Anyhow we all know and you did state that the S is much quicker. 5.2 in manual and 5.6 in auto to 60mph. Anyhow it is possible you could have stayed with him and I believe him cuase you could have been right in that high rev spot so you were using all your power and he could have been lower RPMs. But nice race he must have felt like crap just either cause he can't drive or just was in the wrong gear. I hate when that happens, anyhow nice race.

hahah.. I dont know why but most of the boxster owners that I have rev'ed on are extremely arrogant. Of course out of like 5 Boxster S's I've probably only managed to race 1.

just for the record, the Boxster S is slow. It is VERY believable that he did indeed race and hanged with him til up top. The only porsches that will scare me is the Carrera 4 and of course.. the Twinturbo one

Pull up next to me and you'd better get a good look while the light is still red, cuz that's the last time you'll see anything but the rear bumper. :P

I guess that would depend on what I pulled up next to you in... or on.

I can still get my hands on 398cc's of fury that'll take your little pony car down all night long (stoplight-to-stoplight, anyway)...

I have never weighed it, but it lists at 3398 from the manufacturer. I haven't done any weight reducing mods other than the aluminum driveshaft, and that's more a benefit of rotational weight since it's only 7-8 pounds lighter.

At the track, I take out spare, jack and floormats (~40 lbs total), run with 1/8 tank or less and I weigh about 175.

Re: Ran a Boxster S

he probably wanted to run from a 20mph punch because he can't launch his car.

Why, does it fall off when you accelerate? I thought Ford was making improvements on quality...guess not.
