Question Radio Question...

I have a '01 CLP with OEM radio... when I try to turn down the volume with the dial on the unit, the volume goes up... and it can only turn it down with the controls on the steering wheel.

Has anyone else had that problem?
Can you guys guess what the problem is?
Would that be covered by the Acura Extra Care Extd Warr?

Thanks for the help!

i'm guessing a busted radio, the potentiometer that is part of the dial is busted, it might be covered, its time for a new head unit. Gm radios are really known for doing that.

That happend to me. But only when I turned the car on with the stereo already. It's like the volume is catching up to when you turned the car off, while your turning it down? :strange:

But I got rid of the stock stereo...

actually it was supposed to do that, its to keep the speakers from getting shocked with lots of power, when you turn the car on the volume rises slow rather than just coming on full blast.

Yeah I have the same prob. in my 01' it's just the dial. I dont think there is a way to fix it. I had the same problem with a couple of decks in my truck too. Just cant fix it. Get a new deck with buttons instead of a knob. Or see if it's still covered under warranty. Besides who uses the stereo knob anyways? it's so much easier on the steering wheel.

... It is embarrassing when your friends are in the pax seat and try to turn down the volume; and it actually raises the volume... They are like WTF!

On my stock CLS stereo I find that if I pull the knob towards me and away from the stereo as I turn the volume down it seems to work properly. If I don't pull back when I turn the volume down, it seems to either go up or stay at the same level. Anyone have an idea why this might happen?
