Radio Broken

Guys, I'm in need of your expertise here as I have no idea what to do. My Radio only works when its cold (morning, night, after AC has been on for a while), The reception is really bad, it just gets static. I took it to the delership and they said they didn't know what they could do. I took it to a private shop and they were boggled too. Any Ideas, please??

I live in Georgia and its hot 9 months out of the year so this really sucks.

Maybe the antena is loose either in the back of the radio or at the rear window. I'd say it'd be worth cracking the center console apart and taking a look.

ok, do you mean the am/fm radio, or does the entire HU not work right? CD & tape?

I mean the am/fm radio, but its only when the car is hot like after being in the sun for a while. Once you drive for 10-15 minutes it improves but is still really ghetto sounding (crackling and static).

I started to take apart the center console only to find out my brother took my tools, so I guess I'll have to wait til Friday when I head home from school to the burbs.

guys, any update on if the fix was an unplugged cable on the back of the head unit for the bad radio reception?

i also get nothing but static on FM and AM. dealer wants $200 just to diagnose the problem. i wasn't expecting any electronic problems on a japanese car this early.

i can't live without the radio!

I think it would be worth saving $200 just for a diagnosis to take the center console apart and take a look yourself to see if the antenna is unplugged from the headunit.

hey guys, i haven't had time to look into anything. but even the local audio shops want $100 for them to crack the console and look at the back of the headunit.

does anyone have any instructions on how i can take out the headunit to look at the back antenna connections? any links to this so i can save over a $100? thanks a lot

I don't have problems with me radio but my CD changer doesn't work. The error code keeps flashing. At one point in time it would only work in cold conditions or when the battery terminal was taken off and put back on. Now it doesn't work at all. When it use to work every so often, you could hear the CD changer loading the CD's.

The changers are made by Alpine (only the speakers are Bose) and it's a piece of junk. Many, many others have the same problem. I had my 1st one replaced as a "good will" and the 2nd is doing the same thing. Has been for a while. It's not worth a grand to replace it.

are u using burnt cd's?

I had a problem b4 with certain types of burnt cd's where they would get stuck, wouldnt eject, and would cause the cd player to always go back to that cd (if i cd is in deck 2, and i press 3, 3 will flash and then return to deck 2)

i just changed to some Sony CD's that were a bit higher quality, and its worked fine ever since

I ran into that problem as well with the different versions of burnt CD's. But in the changer now is all store bought CD's. Would the dealer cover this under warranty? I am tired of listening to the radio. I have been doing this for at least 6 months.
