Radar jammers (the 'passive' legal ones)don't work. don't waste your money. In particular beware rocky mountain radar. They keep selling the same non-functioning POS product for like 250-300$ by changing the name of it every few months. Is it called the black widow this month?? :shakehd:

Bel LaserPro works and is around $300. Blinder makes a laser jammer that works for the same price (about) and it work well too. K40 makes one but I can't say how well.
Now radar jammers are another story. As with the new laser guns all radar guns know when they're being jammed and I'm sure a cop would love to bust you on something that the FCC could get involved in. They love making examples out of people too. The FCC is heartless. Radar jammer until are pretty big and are not (as far as I know) weather resistant which means it would have to sit on your dash or the visor and not behind the grill to be effective. They're eye sores as well. Plus you'll piss off every person using a detector for a 1/4 mile around you. They typically pulse radar signals every other second, I don't know why. With all that said, you're better off getting a better radar detector (coughV1) then putting yourself through all that.
And stay the f^ck away from that Rocy Mountain crap. What con artists they are.

so
so basically you are saying that the rocky mountain shit sucks, bc what i was goin to do was get one and litterly try it out. i work out with a cop and im sure he wouldnt mind shotting his gun and seeing if it does really work. they are always talking about new shit to detect and from what he tells me the 8500 is the best. but also i was goin to test it with those little highway "your goin ...." anoyying signs all over nj. do any of you know someone who has gotten the black widow? bc they CLAIM that they will pay all o f your tickets for one year if you DO get one, that is a pretty hefty claim if they dont work? dont you think?

Basically, yeah RMR sucks. Here's a good read:

I guess black widow is the newest name for the same piece of shit?
(churchman owns RMR)
btw I bought one of these things a long time ago and promptly returned it. It was called the phazer back then. In the manual it stated that the unit doesn't work on the 'you are going this fast' radar signs because they use older radar technology unlike the 'advanced' radar technology found in a radar gun that police use. It said they detect the 'advanced radar' LOL. I returned it right after I read that.

In reaction to past stories we've written for Automobile Magazine, the BMW Roundel, Mercedes Star, AutoTronics and Car Audio & Electronics, among others, the resourceful Churchman quickly renamed these same boxes--the new appellations include Illusion, Shadow, Eclipse, Patriot and Avenger among others--and continued doing business without missing a beat. He's also produced several private-label versions with names like Barrier-RDR and Barrier-LSR.
