Racing, At what point does it become not worth it

This Morining i was on my way to the Airport, kinda in a rush doing about 80, then out of no where from the right lane behind me comes a old beatup lowered Acura Integra with a large exaust. He much of been doing about 100mph.

Anyways i caught up with him, its a 3 lane road with 2 cars ( 1 in each lane) and a truck in the other lane in front of us. At this point where doing about 65 i put it into 3 using SS and just waiting for the car infront (which was going little faster) to move up so i could get in front, just at to wait until he was aleast a few feet ahead.

As i was waiting, what happened next the Integra decided he would go between the 2 cars ( one of saw what was happening and was trying to get on to the side road) he just floors it and decides to go between the 2 lanes in the middle. For a sec i did not think he would do it...but he did of he went... just nuts.

I backed off and just left it at that, he thought i know i would of smoked him. I think that's the last time i'll race a car like that

Racing always involves trust of your opponent. Once he does anything that you can't rely on or trust, I shut down and back away.

It's fun when you have mods but w/o it does get boring. PPL are always eggin' me to race but I find it's not worth a ticket or killing anyone.

I'm pretty much the same way. On the way home tonight a lowered Accord w/ at least exhaust cut between me and a car in front when THERE WAS NO #$#$# ROOM to do so and in the rain! I could have chased him down and killed him during the next opening in traffic but decided beating him would just probably egg him on to do something equally or more dangerous and stupid.

I've let many of opportunities to race pass by for various reasons.
- traffic
- location
- weather
- is someone riding with me . . . and who :P
- road conditions
- others

If I'm driving fast already & some car zooms by me I let it go. I know I'm already going well above the limit. What's it going to get me to go faster just to pass the guy being more of an ass then me?

Agreed. I used to be one of those dudes that would want to win at all costs...
That's before I actually paid for my own car and mods, and had a son. If your opponent is willing to risk life for a race, let him go. It should all be in good fun.

100% correct. You've gotta play it safe and be smart......for you and others safety as well as cops.

The idea of my insurance getting jacked up is motivation enough for me to "let it go" most times. But it does help when the other car is something that doesnt get the race juices flowing (i.e.: Civic, Hyundais, Focus, SUVs). Then again, there are cars that I'd be tempted to run like, 300C, TL, CL, GTP, Impala SS, 540.

Most times, I decide against it. (To the chagrin of my 14 y/o son.)
