Sup guys....
Just wondering if ya guys had any tips on launching a manual transmission car. What's the most effective way to launch if you're racing somebody? Which way is the quickest and why? How do you guys with 5-speeds do it? I just kinda gently put it into first....and as soon as it catches...i floor the heck outta it. No peel outs usually. I got a 5 speed 2.3 CL. Your wisdom is greatly appreciated....thanks!

A lot of it depends on whether you are on the street or on the track since the surfaces vary so much. Also, every car has different power, gearing, tires and suspension, so there really isn't any "optimum" launch RPM for all cars.
What you are looking for is a very slight wheelspin through first gear to keep the RPMs up and avoid bogging the motor. When I had regular radials, my technique was to give it a good bit of gas and really slip the clutch out through first, never dumping it. Not the greatest for clutch longevity, but the most effective method nonetheless. With a lesser powered car, and assuming you don't do this 12 times a day and do it while the clutch is hot, it should not put an excessive amount of strain on it.
