haven't raced in a long time..but heading up to my house a newer model blue wrx (non sti) pulled up to me..the light turned green and i didnt think he wanted to race, so i kinda just eased onto it..but then i hear his engine get pretty loud so i floor it at around 20 mph..i underestimated those stock wrx's...it was pretty much dead even all the way up to 90 mph..everytime he shifted it seemed like he would pull ahead by a fender, but i caught up again..this went on several times til i shut it down...threw him a thumbs up and headed my way

 

You sure he was stock?

 

should i have beaten a stock one? it seemed relatively new so i figured it was stock

 

If neither of you launched hard it would probably be an even race, especially if you're a %at and he was a 5MT. They run like 93mph in the 1/4 (5MT), so that'd be a good race for a stock CL-S 5AT. I beat one at the track a couple times with my stock 6 speed. He was running 14.7's @ 93mph, but he wasnt launching like a madman either. With a high rpm (like 5k) clutch dump they will beat just about every car out of the hole, but after that they are nothing special, especially stock.
