raced a s2000

sup, from Long Island here, went little racing with a good friend of mine. He had a s2000, from a roll of 30-40 he beat me good, but from a complete stand still, I had him by half a car length with another friend of mines in the car with me. Even my friend who was in the car with me was surprised that I took him from a stand still. Felt good.

At the moment i have CAI and exhaust. The S2000 was stock, but take in mind that I had one more person in my car, a full grown man. And yes my car is a auto. He's a good driver, been driving stick most of his life, you could tell he was red lining it every gear.

but off the line, those cars are dogs...

Properly launched the s2000 will take the cl-s.

RWD > FWD

There's a guy on 2k1civic.com that has a s2000 and i've seen footage of him dragging off the start and it's pretty damn nice.

From a roll with a 6mt, the CL should be able to beat the s2000.

props... nice kill...

I beat an S2000 back in february. He lost by a carlength from a standstill but from a roll (40MPH) I barely inched him out by a bumper at nearly 115MPH.

EDIT: is a carlength meaning a car between the two cars? or my rear bumper is at his rear bumper? In this case there was a car between us.

If driven correctly, the s2k will smoke all stock CL-S. I have beat more than my fair share of CLS's. The CLS is a fast car, but it isnt a full out sports car like the s2k.

If he had launched correctly off the line, he would have beat you pretty bad going as fast as you guys were.

Like I have said before, the CLS is a great car, it just isnt a sports car.

I've driven my friends S2K and they are dogs off the line. However, when they cross into VTEC they're monsters.

they need to be launched at 7k to compete

how many s2k owners are willing to do that at every other stop lite?

if they want to, they can kick our butts.

I shattered my flywheel when I ran my 13.542, it is hard as hell to keep those things in pristine condition if you are racing at every stoplight

Torque is about the only weakness... even with a S/Ced S2000, it has only about 200 ft/lb of tq at peak, and 175 ft/lb right before the vtec cross over.

I am getting ready o find out how much of a weakness this is. I am going to pick my s2k up fromt h shop right now. Just got the supercharger installed and I need to make a run to the track and the dyno.

All those older cobras better watch out

KC,

Good stuff! Make sure you break it in right! and the low TQ is not bad at all, I was trying to be moddest about the power. You really need to watch the corners when you Vtec... With the blower on, it's very easy to fish tail....

I have both my cl with a 6 speed you do not have to dump the clutch in the s2000 to keep to stay even with the cl,the stock tires just spin.I know till about 5000rpm the s2000 is weak but at 7000 it's like hitting nitros.I love both cars it is very nice to switch back and forth and if I had to pick one it would be the cl.

yeah, I just got the car back and took it for a drive. And it is going to get some taking used to.

Amazingly it feels a lot better down low even though there is still not ery much torque.

I trailered it down to the track today only to find that it started raining as soon as I pulled it off.

Maybe tommarrow

Will do, I gotta figure out how to hook my camera up to my dads computer. If not I will have to wait till I get back to Kansas so that I can do it on my computer.

The other bad news is that I was going to go back down to the track again today, but it rained all day long. It is actually still raining

how are s2k's at around 60+ mph?

i did 2 runs with an s2k (to make sure the first one wasn't a fluke ) one from around 60 and the other 80mph, and got him by about 1 to 1 1/2 cars, ending at 110 which is our 3rd gear. the only mod i have is headers. thats pretty realistic right? i think our 3rd gear just pulls crazy.

really?? Even stock ones pull hard around 60mph+... If they are in 3rd, 60mph puts them right around the beginning of Vtec.

You need to realize that a great majority of the weekend s2000 owners and drivers do not know how to extract 100% of the power out of the car. Most are middle aged that bought it as a nice looking vert.

I test drove a 6 speed cl-s and it is a very simple and easy car to launch drive ect. The s2000 is the complete opposite, additionally it does not hold up to launches. But side by side there is no comparison, its like driving a go cart versus a box truck.

I do however like the look and driveabitlity of the cl and if things end up going my way should be driving one in a week.
The s gets kinda rough for a daily driver.
