Raced a new 270HP Trailblazer and....

won of course (by about 10 car lengths up to approx. 1/4 mile). Looks like the guy was pissed. At the next light he asked me if I had anything on my car and told me that he thought he would beat me since he has lots of power. Maybe he was forgetting the whole 'weight' issue.

Its going to be cold day in hell when an SUV beats an M3 or CLS unless it was built by AMG or ///M.

I had a similar incident but with a Jeep Grand Cherokee. The fucker had a V8. What I don't get is why these bitches want to race in an SUV???? He was trying to out corner the corners and bottom line was he was just being a menace.

So when we got on the clover on ramp to the highway, I said, "fuck this shit, let me be the menace". I didn't even try hard and I kick his ass entering the on-ramp.

Some people just need basic auto education. I don't consider that shit to be a proud story. I just thought SUV owners should chill the fuck out.

Well the Jeep GC Limited V8 is pretty quick and can beat a lot of cars on the road. 7.2 to 60. But to pull along side a CL-s or M3 is just plain stupid. But I'm sure they like to have fun. If they stopped by Kenne Bell and dropped 10 grand they could have their SUV's run mid 5's to 60.

technically, turbochargers are simply a subset of superchargers. (they are "exhaust driven superchargers" according to webster's new college dictionary...)

Well, when I want to read up on the finer points of forced induction, Noah Webster is always the guy I look toward. Yeah, I guess technically (from a dictionary), even the bottle 'supercharges' an engine, but normally blowers , nitrous and turbos are not thought of as the same thing...

Semantics of superchargers, turbochargers, turbosuperchargers aside, you were flat wrong that only the mighty Germans could build a fast SUV. Period. You were also wrong about the Ty having a blower, you didn't know it was a turbo, but only call it a supercharger, you thiught it had a supercharger. Period.

I'd love to see the look on an ///m owners face if they tried to go after a Ty.

Now we're turning this into an international issue huh? Germans/Japs vs. American cars/SUVs? Admit it, the Typhoon was a huge piece of junk, didn't even look good. You can turbo anything and everything you want if you want to make it go faster. They knew that they couldn't make it go faster any other way so they put a turbo in it. Or it must be that they just didn't have the intelligence to make it go faster any other way.

Oh well, it happens to all of us....oh wait...sorry, it only happens to GM

Dude, rag on the quality of GM all you want, I have no loyalty to them. The Tys and Cys are junk, you are right, especially now that they are all 10 years old and beat to hell, it's just that they didn't fit your bill of 'Cold day in hell' statement...

And when did turbos become the route of the unintelligent enigne builder?

Just stating the intelligence differences between the GM builders vs. the other manufacturers. Remember, 911 TT is also Turbo and is one kick butt car

Somewhat bush league to challenge with another's car, but I'm game, what will you be driving. I hope it can turn the 1/4 in the 11s at 118+...

Sorry cheif, I missed this question...

According to the last dyno I did, it's at 279 rwhp and 278 rwtq...but, as always, track times, and MPH mostly tells the tale...

Not until October, so I am a bit bush league, myself, I guess.

But it will be there. Going with standard S-Trim kit, 9 lb, 42 lb injectors, ProM MAF, T-Rex and Kenne Bell BAP (I beleive in overkill on the fuel system)...should be good for 440-470 rwhp and 380-400 rwtq on a safe tune...

Then soon after will be the T-56 replacement...

Do you plan on doing the install yourself?
To me, it looks like a nice project for the weekend mechanic. But, the tune is best left to the pros. Buy a digital camera to capture the look on the faces of unknowing victims.

You are correct, the tune is best left to the pros, as the weekend mechanic usually doesn't have a dyno and wideband A/F to work with.

AS far as installing it, I am paying to have it done (Appx 600-700). I feel I could do the install myself, definitely the blower head unit, but the scope of the project is just too large for me to be 100% confident(fuel pump, Boost-a-Pump, injectors, precise belt alignment, etc.)...can't risk this not being done right...

As far as 'unknowing victims' goes, they better have a loud-ass stereo or the howl of the S-trim will give me away in a heartbeat...

pull T It sounds like you have a great mod setup to the motor and the fun of a 5 speed...but, I must say, all you need now is a car to put it in. :p

touche...

actually, I would love to stuff that motor in a notchback (a Mustang LX coupe 87-93, for the non-Mustangophiles here)

A CL-S to take the g/f around in would be sweet as well. For some reason, she hates the extra power, offroad exhaust, etc...strange girl...

here's a pic of the bad boy...

I did all these mods to my 93' GT rag top, running 12lbs on 94 octane. But I also had the GT-40 aluminum heads & intake and SVO 3.73 w/ Detroit Locker...I figure it was making close to 425-450hp. It was a FUN car...

hey, how much extra did it cost you to get the backwards cobra emblems on the front fenders? :p

you really need to edit that photo and get that riff-raff c5 outta there. (barry doesn't troll the import forums, right?)

So did you go with S-Trim, or a Novi or what? That hp sounds about right. Was this with a stock bottom end? How long did it last? Hopefully I sould be at that hp level with only 9 lbs of boost with the DOHC, but the low end grunt won't be what it was in your vert...

A stock Typhoon was good for low 14's at best. That's an easy kill for a stock e36 M3.

Modded could be a different story, though. It's much easier to get big performance gains out of a forced induction car.

Just look at all the turbo Supras that are destroying Corvettes......

I can recall three stock Tys that I saw run at the track, all ran mid-high 13s. Just what I saw, your results may vary...

i know i don't like hot rod trucks anymore than you guys but 1 truck i think would hang with a CL-S would be a Dakota R/T 5.9. (those look pretty fast)
and one i know thats fast cause i've seen a guy run it is a Ford Lighting. This guy(i'm not saying this was legal) but he was goofing off( i knew it was kinda of powerful but not this powerful) i was maybe 15-20 away from the light standing on the sidewalk and he just stood on the throttle and the back tires SMOKED BIG TIME. not to knock a CL-S but i think the Lighting would spank us.
