Raced a IS300

I was comin home from work when i pulled up at this red light. i take a glance over and i see an Is300 right next to me. both of us knew we were gonna race. I kept it in D5. i turned VSA off. We had a long stretch of road ahead of us with no cars ahead. The light turned green and we stomped on it. I had him from the start. i got a good jump and just kept goin. he didn't have a prayer. I had him by about 2 or 3 car lengths after we hit 70 or so and he just quit. We pulled up next to eachother at the next light and he didn't even bother lookin at me.

From alot of the posts on this forum, it appears that D4 or D3 might be better than keeping it in D5 when racin'. What do y'all think? Either way, good kill!

I've read that lots of people use D3 or D4 too, but I don't know how it could possibly make a difference. If you have the pedal to the metal, the car isn't going to shift into 4th until about 110mph anyways. It's not like the gear ratios are any different between D3, D4 and D5.

I do think it makes a different with street races though. Say, you're going about 50mph in D5. You'd be in 5th gear at that speed, and if you floored it, the car has to go all the way down to 2nd before it takes off. If you were in D3 or D4, the car would take off a little faster because it doesn't have to raise the rpms so much.

Well the IS300 owner should of kept on going because the IS pulls really hard from 80 and up MPH. Anyway good racing (even though im a Lex person)
