supposedly those things can do 0-60 in under 6 sec. and the 1/4 in 14 something...i'm trying to convince my dad to get one...it would be a good change of pace compared to the cl-s

The WRX is a mean little son of a b*tch especially once you take into consideration how easy these guys have it to go faster seeing as that Subaru turboed the thing.Swap a chip in raise the boost and off you go.Jens

I read somewhere that the stock WRX does 0-60 in 6.4 seconds...similar to the CL-S. But, with the aftermarket support that the Impreza has, for sure you're going to see a lot of sub-5 second 0-60 WRX's

Not only that, the WRX gets the power to the ground better than any of our cars, and that superiority becomes even more exacerbated with the combination of go-fast mods and street tires.

To temper your enthusiasm for the WRX, I hear that the full-bore WRX STi (280hp) is coming next year.

There's also a Mitsubishi dealer rumor that's becoming ever more widespread that the Lancer Evo VII is coming late this year. Both of these have been hot topics of discussion on my home forum.

Personally I do not like the look of the car, and how safe is it? All that power, I like my side and front airbags, weight.

5.7 (0-60) is one thing but looks is another. I rather drive a classy Acura than a Rally scooter. BUT! I think I would consider the STI rocket though. But only if they come in two doors. What's with these four doors anyway? What ever happened to two door sport coupes? Damn baby boomers!

according 2 the magazine.. the new WRX STI is a cheaper version of the new M3.. 0-60 4.8.... if that s the case it might beat the new M3.. cuz it s lighter and turbocharged.
Man If that STI will be under 30000. I will trade in my avalon for it next year.

Even if the Lancer Evo came to the US, I wouldn't buy it. The Mitsu dealer support sucks! When I went to buy my gsx, the dealer told me that's all we sell and service so we know this product well. The very first service/warranty work I had done the mechanic is asking me how a piece of body trim is affixed to the car "Is it glued or screwed?" I take my car to Ray Laks Acura to get its service done. :mad

Then I agree, the WRX will more than likely beat us (w/no mods). I would rethink racing one if it pulled up next to me.

Whatever you think about it (and I like the WRX alot) I'll bet it'll kick our a** getting to the upper speeds. I can't think that the Suburu guys would give such poor gearing in the upper gears as Acura did for us.

Turbo cars will be hard to beat... Very easy to mod the boost. We need a twin turbo kit for the cls Then we would be able to take on that fancy Nissan

I saw times of 5.7 in Road and track but they said they dropped the clutch at 4000 to get that kind of times. and the red line is only 6000 or something. can't remember.

WRX can do 0-60 in 6.4
The STi version, around 280hp, can do it in low 5s. ~5.4s

Having read about the WRX, went for a test drive Saturday .... an automatic station wagon version. It is as quick as it is ugly and would walk away from a CL-S in the mountains. It quite possibly is quicker in a straight line too. Lights up all four from a stop. In hard turns at speed, it has a nice RWD feel; very controllable. W/ a sunroof, the wagon is just over $25k; sedan $24.5. Inside is small; w/ front seat all the way back (I'm 6'2"), you've got less than 6" for your legs between front & back seats.
I think we're going to see lots & lots of WRX's, but all things considered, I'm glad I'll be driving my CL-S.

You guys know that within a year or two, the REAL WRX STi will be sold in the US, right?

It's the REAL DEAL with 275hp. It's a fucking monster. 0-60 in 4.7, 1/4 mile in low-to-mid 13s.

THAT'S the car I'd buy (if I could wait that long to buy a car).

Cost around $30k. I'd probably take that over a Type-S.

Unfortunately, the WRX has to be the ugliest car in the world besides the Pontiac Aztek... Anyways, the speed would be nice. Car and Driver says 5.8 for the WRX and 4.8 for the STi. I can't believe how stupid the gold rims look on the STi.

If I wanted a fast ugly car, I would buy a 1990 Ford Escort for $2400 and drop in a Lotus Espree twin turbo V-8, all new suspension, and bigger wheels/tires. All of the sudden, I have a 25K car that does 0-60 in 4 seconds flat.

To bad the car is so goofy looking. I'll stick to my CL-S

Uh, yeah. A TT Escort. Ok.

I guess a go kart w/a jet engine on it would be faster still.

Nice to see healthy respect for a capable car. Well, for some, anyway.
