Quit mess'n around with 18-watt bulbs!!
As soon as I get my hands on a camera, I'll post pics of my install today. Forget all about changing bulbs in the useless "road lamps", burnt harnesses, etc. I cut out the entire back of the light housing, and custom installed a set of PIAA 1400 lights through the perfectly cut holes. Bought a factory foglight switch for a TL, installed that in thge blank switchplate, and viola! Absolutely incredable, functional light. It makes for an install that looks very much like the headlights, that is a "chrome-behind-glass" look. The PIAAS are protected further by leaving the factory lens cover in place. My local shop did the whole job for under 400 bucks, including the lights and factory switch. Heat was the only concern, we were afraid the extra light might actually melt the factory lens...but no problems after 3 hours of continuous use. The best part is, the factory switch wires with the ignition, so the new lights are INDEPENDENT from headlight operation...use them with or without the headlights. I promise to post pics....

not like these...besides, have you seen the price??
over 650 bucks for 25-watt fogs. Mine are 85-watt Dichronics...driving lights, not fogs. Plus, they look fantastic....

Thw 2003 will get real fogs as option. You can retrofit those in the 01-02 CLS.
What the hassle wait couple months.

I still have the foglight switch though, just never installed it.
What shop did you get to do it?

The 'ACCESSORY LIGHTs' are 36.58 per side. So cutting up the stock lights is not a big deal. They are cheap to replace if you want to return to stock..
I have a pair of PIAA 1200s NIB. My biggest issue with installing them was keeping a clean look. This is a great idea.
Can't wait to see the pics and try this mod. thanks
