A quick question

Okay before I ask the question I just want to say I have used the search feature, I have looked read, and reread. I just need a definite answer. I want to add better sound to my car. I have navigation system and I don't want to change the head unit or the speakers. I want to put in a 5440 PPI amp (5-channel) to power my speakers and a 12" sub. Is this possible? How and what do I need? Thank You.

P.S. I've read yes and no because we have 1 ohm speaker and I've heard we have 2 ohm. Which is it? What do I need to hook up my ride?

You'll need to replace all of your speakers in order to use the aftermarker amp. Stock Bose amp (POS BTW) output rated @1ohm.
Besides stock Bose speakers are made in Thailand, paper material, and can not handle more than 40 watts. Your amp will blow those suckers & smoke these voice coils easily.
I recommend using Focals if $$ is no subject or Diamond Audio, MB Quart, JL Audio.
Hopes this help...

You can use the factory speakers. I am running a 20 year old Rockford Fosgate Power 650 using all factory speakers. I can go into more detail if need be. With serious equalization I was able to achieve a very flat response curve and good imaging.null

BTW you will more than likely have to run your amp in 3 channel mode with front and rear in series unless you amp is stable at 1 ohm...

BBsAcuraRacing,

What are your audio credentials? I mean, do you sell hi-end audio for a living? Do you actually listen to MUSIC or are you a EE? You are confusing this poor boy with your misguided technical drivel. You may want to trash your ears by listening to electronically over-compensated, distorted Blowz speaker mush through your decent Fosgate electronics, but let the newbie (if he can afford it) upgrade to some decent speakers.

My JL Audio amps deliver 30 more HP at the wheels than your geezerly Fosgate.

------------------------

However, enough of this dickering. HERE's the SOLUTION, gsxtasyd. Go ahead and listen to the answer that you seem to want to hear-- and that is use the Blowz speakers with your 5-channel power amp. When it gets hooked up and sounds like s@#t, it's no great loss. Then you can rip out the Blowz speakers and install Boston Acoustic's (or some other decent 4-ohm speakers).

okay thanx for the input, I hope you can see what I was talking earlier Technoid when I was referring to conflicting opinions. I think I will either just add a sub then and not even mess will the stock speakers, or I will do it right and change the speakers, and add a sub and an amp. Thanks for all the helpful info.
