Questions for people with Eibach pro-kits
Questions for people with Eibach pro-kits
I got the Eibach prokit springs and had them installed at around 10K miles. I never had any problem with the ride being too harsh until a couple of months ago (I have 21K now). I thought it was the shocks, but the dealer said it wasn't. But I went and got new Tokico HP shocks. Now the suspension is even worse. I feel EVERY SINGLE BUMP in the road, the steering is shaky and loose at high speeds and stiff at low speeds. It feels like the car "drifts" alot also. I am very pissed off. I've never had a problem with Eibachs before. The dealer keeps saying it's the springs. I have never felt a harsher ride in my life, it's like there is no shock absorption whatsoever. Also, the front wheel vibration and vibration in the accelerator and floorboard is very excessive. After driving more than 30 minutes, I have to put the car in cruise because my foot is numb from the vibration. I'm getting very frustrated with this car overall. It's back and forth with the dealer. They say it's the aftermarket products, and the aftermarket guys say it's the car.
Oh, so my question is to the people that have Eibach's--have you experienced a drastic decrease in ride quality from when you first got your springs?

You have all those mods and never bought the Comptech swaybars??
Anyway, get your tires balanced and alignment checked (yeahyeah 3 times already whatever i read your post) and if that doesn't fix it, who knows.

no probs here, still on stock shocks, no vibration at high speed or loose steering. Ride quality prob diminished about 20% since the springs settled but I'm ok w/ it cuz the car handles better. Sounds like your ride has issues. Doubt the springs are causing all those problems.
I've had them on my car for around 20k, no problems, but i got Koni's too. Problems could be rotors(oem suck had them resurfaced twice by dealer that would be when brakingand it would probably pull),bump stop could be worn out, might be off the perch setting and need to be rotated, could be pullies making steering wheel shake. Or maybe you did internal damage to a rim and knocked it out of balance. Be more descriptive and I can probably help.
Rotors are being replaced for the 3rd time tomorrow (and pads too hopefully). Bump stops could be a problem, it almost feels like the springs are just bouncing on top of the struts. The steering wheel is shaking because of the rotors. And actually, I have a slightly bent rim on the rear, but the wheels are balanced. Anyway, the car is going in the shop tomorrow for a laundry list of things.
What could I do to check the problem out? Can I rotate by hand?

you feel every bump in the road becasue of the tokicos because they are stiff. you can't do anything about it except for ride it out. the shcoks will eventually wear or break in and the ride wll get smoother. it might take a couple thousand miles.i had teh exact same setup on my old bimmer.
as for the vibrations and stuff, are the parts installed correctly? i mean the springs orientated and seated correctly? teh shock mount seated coreectly? the steering will feel a bit looser after the spring install probably becasuse of the geometry change in the steering and suspension components, but not as loose as you describe unless you are exaggerating a bit.

I had Tokico HDs on my Honda Accord and they're pretty stiff. I heard the HDs are as stiff as the Illumina shocks set on 3. You can live with them or pick up a set of Koni's or Tokico Illumina's. There's a guy on eBay that has really good prices on Tokico shocks.
