Question on high mileage cars...

I figure I have another 2 years before I have to dump my car...

Looking at some Supras and some of them have 180,000 miles but yet people are bidding on these cars. Woould any of you pick up such a high mileage car and can they be overhauled and still maintain reliability??

Just wondering.

Back in '96, I bought an '83 BMW 528e that had 225k on it. I paid $2,000 for it. Over the next 15 months, I put 33k on it, and all I replaced was the alternator (right before trading it in on my '98 3.2 TL), and the gas tank (freak thing to fix). I maintained it at a BMW dealer religiously, and it ran great. I couldn't deal with the shifting anymore, as my back and knee were a mess. I probably wouldn't do it again, but it worked out for me very nicely.
