Question for CL Owners. Help.

I got 2001 Types S, it has 13000 miles. Any time I hit 80-90 miles and try to stop the car when I am exiting freeway, the car shakes. The weel is going crasy jumping like crazy. I had same issue with my old Maxima, it was rotors. Do you think it is rotors after 13000 miles? Would dealer cover it? 80-90 miles the only speed you can notice it.

Thanks.

What did they said, it is rotors?

One mechanic told me that it is calipers not squizing parallel at the same time; one caliper is faster then the other?

Could be true?

Yep, that's what it is. Go to you dealer and try to have the rotors and pads replaced.

Rotors are only normally covered up to 12K miles but many people on this board are getting them done for free, far after this amount of mileage.

Arm yourself with knowledge, should your dealer balk at fixing it for free or try to tell you that there is nothing wrong with your car.

1. State that you know that there is a brake service bulletin for the TL and would the technician please accompany you on a test drive. Get up to speed and brake, to duplicate the problem.

2. State that many people on Acura-CL.com are experiencing the same problem and that in the majority of cases, dealers are either fixing or replacing the rotors and/or pads under warranty.

3. If that doesn't work, call Acura Customer service ASAP! 1-800-382-2238 (option 1). They were instrumental in getting my rotors resurfaced (for free). They will take down (and read back to you) a descritpion of the issue and will usually contact a regional manager, who will mediate a solution at the dealer.

God, how many cars with defective brakes does it take for Acura to do the damn service bulleting for the CL??????

Welcome to the "Warped CL-Rotors Club." If you're driving at 80-90, your pads are going to heat up big-time when you hit your brakes. According to the service manager at Radley Acura, it's the overheating of the first generation CL pads that's causing our rotors to wear unevenly (warp). So make sure you get the 2nd generation Acura brake pads (waaay back-ordered) when you get either turned or new rotors, otherwise the same s#@t gonna happen again.

BTW, double ditto what sundance_gold said above!!!
