Some remote start systems will now work with a manual. However you need to get one that says it will work. But it's a pain. They are setup so the car will only remote start with the stick in N. Some only if the parking break is on also. If it's in 1st, or any other gear the remot start will not happen. There are ways around that but not legal.

I heard it was illegal to do this on a manual car in most states.
I worked with a guy who put one in anyway and ended up driving his 5-Speed Hyundai into a TREE once.
He left it in gear by accident and the E-Brake didn’t hold.

I'm aware of clutch interlock bypasses for remote-starting a manual car, but is there also a "legal" bypass for the transponder keys as well? And is that part of the standard kits or is that some sort of "Earl's Garage" wire-pulling chop job?

FWIW, I don't know if I'd ever do this, because I always keep my car in gear when parked (old habit), and I'd hate to redecorate the front end of my car using a wall as a template.

Get a compustar, they work with manuals. You have to go thru a shutdown sequence in order for the car to remote start. www.compustar.org check them out

Oh yeah, I'd buy one of those. From their webpage:

"If your looking for an alarm/remote start that provides all of the benefits of our highly advanced two-way digital communicating systems, but without the cost of a remote pager, then look no further!"

I don't know how you can produce sophisticated electronic equipment, if you write like a third grader.
