Question Purchasing a '03 CL TYPE S -Need Some Advice

Hey everyone, I just need some advice because im thinking about buying an '03 cl type s. There are actually two of them that im looking at right now, both are 6 speed. One is is absolutely pristine condition with about ~85k and asking 13,500 and the other is in GOOD condition with about ~60k and asking only 9,500. So just need some advice on pricing and what to look for when inspecting the cars itself. Thanks. Any pointers?

yeah thanks, im thinking about buying the one with 60k on the motor unless the seller of the other acura lowers his price. the difference here is about 25k, which seems pretty substantial. which means i wont have to worry about any engine work for a while like replacing the timing belt and water pump. one thing is that the for 9500 has tan leather and the other all black leather. i really like black leather

Black leather is much nicer IMO. What are the problems with the car in only good condition? Has the timing belt service been done on either of the cars?

Headers and intake won't fit on the CL 6speed from a TL-P. Pulleys might be the same...check part numbers on manufacturers website. Exaust is a bit different, but shouldn't be a huge deal to modify.

save up some more cash and wait, the right one will pop up i promise, unless you're in a hurry or something? ie: you need a car NOW.

I was wanting to hop on a G35 the past few weeks but they were almost all out of my range, I decided to save up 1-2(3) more thousand then go at it to level the playing field and get exactly what I wanted, WHEN I wanted.

Goodluck!

I like both, but if you want something already modded, Lippstuh's CL is selling for 15.7k obo so you could get that already completed

id say the silver one. A Lot of good quality mods to it, plus has the nice black leather. And another good one like jake said, is lippstuh's. That is the nicest cl ive ever seen!

my opinion may be different than others but here is how I see it: if youre looking at heavily modified 6-speed cars, you might want to think about how much they may have been abused.
But its pretty much your own preference when purchasing a car. It is going to be yours and you might like something more about one than the other.
I also agree with thevikas, you shouldnt rush out to buy one just because its something you like at the time. If youre patient you can probably fin something even nicer and more stock so that you can modify it to your own liking and not something someone else thought was cool.
I personally should have waited and bought a something nicer even though I picked up a fairly clean 2001 version w/o Navi. You can probably find something on craigslist thats local and a private seller so you wont have to deal with dealer fees and all that fun stuff.
But remember this rambling of mine is just my

as an afterthought...you should make it a national search and find a clean example somewhere that may have been a southern state car so you know itl be in better condition than a car from the coast or upper midwest (i.e. no salt/snow damage) but just remeber if you go that route you'll have to make sure the radiator isnt just filled with water

Are you in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area? I know the silver one is in Burleson TX. I can't see if there are TX plates on the black one, but the background looks like the highlands in Arlington.

The little bit of mileage difference on those two cars doesn't mean a lot. It's more how they were taken care of. Don't worry about the T belt. They're good for well over the suggested 105K.

I like black cars and usually don't like silver ones...

I think it's a toss-up... What color do you really like ?? I like the CT mods on the silver one.

I've got a parchment interior on my CL, but want black on my next car... After 6 1/2 years with the CL, it's time for a change...

Prices seem ok, The SSM one is a little overpriced IMHO, but it's got CT headers and exhaust, so that's nice to have... And it does look really clean.

I think you could get 10% off either one easy.... especially in the economy...

Headers, intake, springs... then you can go from there...

Cat back exhaust is just for sound, you won't pick up much HP from a cat back..
