Purchaseing an 01 cls

today i am going to purchase an 01 cl type s. But i am considered with the tranny issues. This car has already had the recall performed and the car has 45k. Will i have a problem or is it just luck of the draw. (meaning some cars are fine some have problems?) Also the car kinda shakes while driving it feels like it needs to have the tires rotated and balance wich the dealer said he will do. Any input would be appreciated.

Luck of the draw with the trannies. Since it only has 45K, I say go for it. I got my tranny swapped at about 45K and now I have 86K. Still strong.

The shaking could be balancing. It could also be a bent rim or the control arms, so get the dealership to balance the tires to see if it goes away. If it only happens while braking, the rotors are warped.

Make sure the front rotors aren't warped (they are crap). As for the transmisson, from what I've read it seems like more like luck of the draw. I had mine replaced at 53kish (bought the car at 46k)...been good so far, I'm at 60k miles.

i believe it all depends on your driving habbits, if you race on each read light, floor it constantly, then you are most likely in deep shit. but if you drive half normal you should be fine. i got 134k and i am pretty sure its on the first tranny.phu phu phu knock knock knock.

its a flaw in design. it has little..to almost nothing to do with how you drive the car. old grandmas are out there with broken trannys at 26k miles/

The problem with the brakes is the rotors warp easily. Also their weak for a heavy CL, being only single piston.

Never had brake squeak... Did have the rotors turned and pads replaced due to warping at 22K miles, but they've been good for the last 30K miles...
