pulleys or ZEX 75 shot for MDX?

Most people would think this is crazy but I own a 2001 MDX and I'm looking for some extra performance. I have an intake that runs into the bumper that creates some gains that I can easily attach the sprayer for the nitros. UR has made some ultra lightweight SS Pulleys for the MDX that are very tempting as well. From what I have read it seems both cause considerable engine wear. The 75 shot would cause more harm but it also creates much more gains. There is a guy on the oddy forum who sprays and the oddy has the same transmission. He hasn't reported any problems. Either choice would cost about $500 installed so it is a tough decision. Can't have both because it is too expensive. I'd appreciate some help because this forum has more experts on the subject then the MDX forum.

the pulleys shouldnt cost any where near 500$ installed ..i happen to have a set of the UR SS polished with belts for 250$ shipped and they could be installed your self...the alt. pulley is the only pain in the ass...look into the OBX headers, i know it wouldnt take much to get those to fit and you might get them for about 500 installed 350 for the part and 150 for the install isnt a stretch

TypeR,

I checked with UR pulleys and the CL doesn't have the same pulleys as the MDX. The price for an MDX pulley set really is over $400. I looked into the OBX headers and to have them installed on the MDX would require a new catback exaust, too much work.

What is that supposed to mean? I've raced the 3.0 wagon/ute and embarrassed it while getting better fuel efficeincy and more cargo room. Once I get some pulleys or nitros I'll be glad to add the 4.4 to the list as well. What did Motortrend choose for SUV of the year? I forget, oh yeah it was the MDX.

I think you are kinda crazy...if you wanted performance a MDX shouldn't been it. The guy who is high on NOS with his Oddy is crazier than u.

while your at it, maybe some lightwieght rims and some weight reduction will help you on the track.

j/k yeah, thats cool you want to make the MDX more in the way of performance, but comon, NOS is not the way to go here, i mean when i think performance i think of how the car feels when driving it, is it fun? thats the true test of performance, not 1/4 speed. plus do you think that youll find people in SUV's that know how to race? NOS is over the top for an SUV, the supercharger might be a different story but how often do you use NOS in a SUV? just my 2 cents.

I'll answer all your questions in this thread. You can view my ride at car domain and all my mods are listed on that host. I have bought some no name 6000k HIDs off of Ebay about 6 months ago for $250 and coudn't be happier with them. I have also a set of Blue Ion PIAA lights on the far side of the grille complementing the HID.

I agree with everyone that nitros is too extreme. I'll probably go with the pulleys. Light weight rims are out of my budget at this time.

How did Doug supercharge his MDX? I thought the supercharger is for the 6-speed only.

Comptech has been working on a SC for the MDX. We were told that at the West Coast Meet in Oregon by Comptech when they showed us the 6 speed SC.

Red Rider,

I'm very skeptical about a s/c for the MDX ever being made. It seems just to be a tease or rumor.

chilly chill bro...
im just saying if u wanted to haul ass a mdx is the wrong choice. i just dont understand why you would want to mess with such a nice vehicle in this manor. but hey, everybody is different. i remember a video and website a while back that had a guy and his early 80-s TURBO plymouth voyager mini van running a flat 12.0 1/4 mile! no bullshit! he had a huge beefed up turbo from a ford truck put on and some other goodies but it was so damn funny to see the videos of this thing at the track. he spanked vettes z28-s mustangs like they where standing still. another funny twist is the outside looked like a piece of shit, even had the wood panels on the side. also had over 100k on the clock!
btw- believe it or not there is a website for turbo mini van owners and on the site, alot ran 14.0 1/4 miles!!!

dbox,

MDX is a good vehicle to "haul ass" in because; 1) AWD = Perfect launch 2) I already have the 3.5L conversion if you will 3) Transmission seems to be dependable

Headers are a bad idea because people say the headers don't kick in until 5,000rpm. The MDX revs lower then the cl, so I wouldn't get the benefits from the headers the CL does.
