that's worth more $ in raw materials (aluminum) than it cost as a pulley. If you think about it it's amazing really.

I was stunned when I got mine. to think ppl will pay 10xs for absolutely nothing is funny really.

you will not be disappointed

If its the one i just bought, which i think it is it is Options underdrive pulley. You need to get new belts. I got Gates belts K040425 and K060441.

This may be a dumb question, but how do you torque the crank pulley back down when re-installing since the engine will turn? Did you have someone stand on the brakes in gear?

Getting my pulley put in tomorrow. I went to an auto parts store (the only one around me that doesn't have dumbass clerks) and the only belts they had were the Gates, not the Gatorbacks. And of course it was only ONE of the two belts, on top of that. I had to order the other belt online. Funny thing about that is that I bought the belt on Amazon.com, and the belt + one day shipping cost about as much as the other belt I picked up at the store...

Yeah all the other Option pulley DIYs I've seen all say to use the Gates. But then a lot of people here insist "Don't use Gates, get Gatorbacks"

I hear the Gatorbacks have a different kind of rib to them on the underside. Makes less noise? I dunno...

i rock the gatorbacks... they are super silent. never slip... only good things to say.

and yes they have a patented rib design which is consistently offset so there are no lines or ribs, thus the surface contact is consistent and cut out the noise and reduces slippage to ZERO

Slippage is mostly just a noise issue, like there's nothing mechanical going wrong, is there?

slippage is normally from not being tightened properly, or a weak tensioner spring

or it could also have something on the belt too, or just plain old age with the belt being dryed out

yes slipping is mainly a noise issue, but if it slips enough, it could not spin the alternater enough which would not charge the battery, but we are talking MAJOR slippage there
also make sure the slippage is not caused by one of the accesories seizing up or anything

Yeah I got my pulley put in a little bit ago. My biggest fear was that the guy wouldn't know what he was looking at, but he recognized right off the bat. It seems he had a helluva time getting that bolt off, though.

btw weird thing is that when he was done, I drove on out, but I could hear this faint noise, like a wobbling, or something was moving....? It comes from the driver's side, and it goes away or becomes inaudible by the time I'm in 2nd gear... I don't think it was something he fucked up, considering those two things, but have you guys ever noticed it after you put yours in?

I mean I showed it to him and he wasn't sure either. He said he'd look up to see what it could be. Like I said it seems to come from the driver's side... maybe a side effect from one of the components being underdriven? Or maybe (ugh..) my trans is making the noise...?

if it is the trans making noise, you are just being more sensitive to new noises cause your car was just worked on

I'm almost positive he used an impact gun. I heard him in there really reefing on the thing, then he had to come in and ask another guy to help him (lol?) and yeah, I'm 5AT

and friesm2000, I'm sure that's probably what's going on. I know I did just that when I put in my CAI

At the very least I'll just keep an eye on it. btw that factory pulley IS pretty damn heavy...

Yeah I dunno what I'll do next to my car. I'm overdue for tinted windows, so I might do that in the spring. That's if I don't get a set of 18" chrome Servos first Just waiting on my year-end bonus.

I dunno the first thing about headers, what all it does exactly, what I'll need to have it installed, etc. In fact I think for the time being my next one will have to be tb spacer, intake manifold gasket, tb gaskets deal. Thinking of getting this next:

not really. some things to do to get around poping the hood, mill it down, use the 09 tl intake manifold (should clear, well almost positive it will), put a 1/2" shim between teh subframe and frame.

direct bolt on if u have a cl-p. u wont have any clearance problems
