Pulled over during test drive... =)
Hi everyone,
I'm new to this forum, and I've read a lot of good racing stories. My favorite so far is the one where M5 Lite got a T/A a ticket! That's what prompted me to post up this little story.
One day I went to the Acura dealer to check out the CL Type S. It wasn't the greatest looking car, but I heard that it was pretty darn fast. I asked the salesperson if I could take it for a test drive, so we went out with a couple of my friends. I guess the salesperson always takes the car off of the lot, and then let's you drive afterwards.
Anyhow, the guy pulled out onto the freeway and floored it. I couldn't believe how fast that car hit 120! Needless to say, I was impressed, and definitely looking forward to driving this car. But all of that adrenaline probably wasn't the greatest thing...
He pulled into a parking lot and let me take over. I cautiously drove out since I was definitely not used to the quick acceleration (compared to my old Maxima). I drove down the street, and the guy told me to make a left turn to head towards the freeway.
So we waited at the light, and waited. The light turned green, then red. Still waiting. Green, red. Still waiting. I'm finally at the front of the pack, and I'm really anxious to see what this car can do. As soon as the light turned green, I floored it and kept the accelerator down all the way through the turn. My friends said that the look on the sales guy's face was absolutely priceless!
As soon as I let off the gas, I thought to myself, "that probably wasn't smart", and sure enough, I looked in my rear view mirror. Apparently, there was a cop at another light, a little further back. So I saw his weaving in and out of the lanes with his lights on. I didn't want to play stupid and keep going, so I immediately pulled over to get my ass-whooping.
I give my sales guy credit, because he attempted to talk to the cop and get me out of trouble. I told the cop that I wasn't used to the car, since it was my first test drive. Basically, the cop told me that was a bunch of bull. I think his exact words were, "C'mon, you have a drivers license, you know what the accelerator does. You're on a test drive and you wanna see how fast this car goes". So anyways, I just said, "yeah, you're right", and was going to just take the ticket. He went back to his car (I figured it was to write the ticket), and then came back. Can you believe this? He let me off! I was pretty stoked. He just told me "If you want to do stuff like this, take it onto the freeway, not on the city streets".
Wow.

Why can't I ever get let off? And I thought cops only let women off. GRRRrrr.....just don't ever get a ticket in Tift county.
$312 for my 18 over. Some dude's ticket was $600+ for doing 90 in a 65.
Glad you got let off though. Guess there are some nice cops out there.

I was racing a Chevy Z24 (yea I know) down the highway and got pulled over doing 98 in a 65mph. I talked him the whole way down from points and a high as fine to disobeying street signs and a $65 fine. not bad
