Wink Prospective 2G owner...

Hey guys, some of you know me from the 1G forum.

My 97 3.0 is about to go (tranny) and i've parted out everything already. I've been looking at some nice cars to replace my 3.0, and what's better than upgrading to a 2G.

This is where i need your help.

Are there any major problems with the 2G CLs, much like the infamous AT in the 1G?? What should i look for when i'm test-driving/inspecting the car? What are the small kinks? Any tidbits of information that i should know about the car? How much should the 03 CL-P/CL-S go for? 02? 01? Which year is better/more reliable?

Thanks for all your helps,
Huy

The AT in the 2nd gen is A LOT worst than the 1st gen. I'm just got my 3rd one replaced at 68,xxx and 95% of the time I drive like a grandma. Luckily they were covered under the trans recall warranty.

Get an 03 CL-S 6 speed, the manual trans are pretty solid and 03 is the only year they make the 6 speed. Those seem to go for around $15k or less depending on miles, a nice amount harder to find than the A/T's but still easy enough to get one that you like.

Other than that look at the "new members click on this official 2nd gen information thread" on the main page and that will give you plenty of info.

+1 for the 03 cl-s 6mt. manual tranny won't give you any problems like the auto will. just saw a couple in the bm. good luck with your purchase.
