Problems with the CL...
You know guys....all the problems with the CL, in particular, the TYPE-S is due to the simple fact that it is a FIRST YEAR OF AN ENTIRELY NEW VEHICLE. I went back on my philosophy not to buy a first year vehicle....because of a few things.
1) Nothing was in the CL's class...price wise.
2) It was a new car, with brand new styling...
3) The 260 hp motor was too good to pass up.
4) It was a Japanese car v. European car, and with all the miles I rack up...I'd rather not have to pay Euro Service Prices...
That's all....just trying to bring everyone's perspective back in line...
I figured all this bashing on our cars has gone long enough....I mean, my car is in the shop for a tranny....but they're replacing it and gave me a car to beat on....I could care less...

Re: Problems with the CL...
I've never seen a post I agree with more. This is my exact reasoning for buying mine.
In terms of it being a 1st year production car, I thought I would be safe getting a CL because it had been out for a few years already. I didn't know how much they had changed for the previous generation, which would have made me a little suspicious in terms of bugs. However, I've had no requested maintenance yet except for the sunroof thing, just routine check-ups.

This is exactly why I was lurking here for 6 monts waiting for the '02s to come out. Of course they didn't fix the Sunroof or wheels but I assume that I got the new brakes and other stuff.

Being that the CL is a first model year car is why I bought the extended warranty.
