Tint makes a car look 5 times cleaner, protects the interior, keeps your car cooler, and protects the eyes from UV. One other thing, any tint around here is illegal, I drive past police all the time and they must figure they have better things to pull people over for I suppose, but I am also not out at 3 in the morning or giving them a reason to pull me over other than the obvious.
Good luck with that 5%. That's what I had. I got pulled over about 4-5 times a year because of it. I was lucky to never get a ticket for it. I would go 15-20 all around next time.

Personally, I really liked the look of the 5%, but even in the bright sun light it was VERY noticable.

I've been in tinted cars and I don't know if it's bad tint or whatever but it's a world of difference when you open the window.
Most will darken it a bit. I had 20% in my Maxima, and 15% on my fronts when I first got my CL and then 5% in my CL. They were all a bit darker than no tint at all. But it should not be an extreme difference. If you are really concerned, go with a 20% tint or so. Don't go lower.
