Problem with Roadlamp Bulbs

I was trying to replace my roadlamp bulb (polarg M-4) with a new M-4 bulb as the first one burned out. While pulling out the old bulb, it fell into the light housing. I did not have much time to figure out how to get the light housing off the bumper so I decided for the short term to put the new bulb in. While putting it in the bulb broke (as you all know it is a tight fit). So now i have the old bulb and the glass from the broken bulb inside the housing and No light in the socket.

How can I get the light housing off the bumper? According to the manual, removing the 3 fasters and going from under the bumper is the way to change the bulb. It says nothing about getting the housing off the bumper.

Thanks for any help.

There's a screw that holds the housing in place. From the middle of the grill area you should be able to see it. loosen in enough to pop out the housing (it doesn't have to come all the way out), with a philips screw driver.

Don't use the Helm's method...

If you are looking at the right road lamp, there is a philips head screw on the upper left corner, just behind the lamp.

It's kinda hard to see, but if you get a flashlight you can't miss it.

Unscrew it (it won't come all the way out) and then just reach behind the lamp and push gently near where the screw is.

The fixture will pop right out. Should take all of 30 seconds to get that fixture out.

You will need to use a screwdriver or something to break up the old bulb that is inside the fixture and then shake out all the pieces.

Through the lower front grill you can stick a screw driver and remove the screw that is holding the housing in place. If you look through the grill towards the housing you're going to see a small "C" shape cut on the lip of the inner grill. This will direct you to where the screw is. After you remove the screw....you can push the housing out. The screw wont fall out because it's held in place by a small plastic lip...so dont worry about losing it.

Hopefully you understand my explanation

M-4 bulbs

Got the fixture out, i had the screw part but there is also a tab under it in the back that needs to be pushed out. Anyway got the broken pieces out and the old bulb broke while i was pulling it out. It is really tight. I think the housing is warped due to the M-4 bulbs. So I am not sure if I should put a new bulb into the old housing. It will probably break too. I only ordered two and it took 2 almost two months to get them from options auto salon. So I am down to one bulb and I am thinking I should have gone with piaas.

Any advice. I have seen threads about the Polarg m-4s warping and burning the housing.

There’s no need to play with any “tab”.
Just crank the screw a bunch of turns till it’s loose and then push the entire housing out from the back.
The screw is held in place and stays in the housing for when you reinstall.

FYI –
The parts from the 2003 “vent” style use the same design if you want the cleaner look without the hassle of those ridiculous marker lamps.
Anything bright enough to look good in there will melt the housing anyway.

Hmmmm ... I dont think the M-4 is hot enough to melt the housing or stuck. It's as small as the OEM bulb. Are you sure the bulb is not M-6?

My bad, it is the M-6 bulbs. I used sand paper to make the opening bigger and I was able to squeeze a bulb through. I am going to have to buy new housing and stop using the M-6's the next time a bulb blows. Do the piaa's look good and do they burn the housing? Also what piaa's do you guys use for the roadlamps?

piaas are tight fit too, but I've had no problems with burning(yet).

The color is very close to stock & they're 10X brighter. Almost like a true fog light...almost...

Try www.acuraautomotiveparts.org for the housing...they're pretty cheap.

I got the Piaa's too and they are much better than the stock bulbs. I use the 19224 for the driving lights

I used Dremmel to make the opening a little bigger. The M-6s slide in and out without any problem now (even after deformation).
