Problem with mobil 1 Oil Filter

Has anyone ever had a problem with Mobil 1 Oil filters? Or any aftermarket filter for that matter?

I took my car in for a normal oil change. My old service rep left the company so now I have some new guy.

The new guy was saying something about how they were having problems with aftermarket oil filters. He said it didn't matter if it was Fram, Mobil 1, or whatever.

So I said what exactly is the problem, b/c I've never heard of anything like that.

And he was like, I don't know what the problem is, but there is one... I've always taken my car there, and they have never told me of such a thing.

From the way he sounded, I don't think they even used my mobil 1 oil filter. He said ahh, you brought in the oil, but it looks like we supplied the filter. I said umm, the filter was in the passenger seat, right next to the 5 quarts of Amsoil. Are you SURE you used my filter? He was like uhh yeah.

I was like dude, I'm coming to pick up my car. He said sure, no problem, I'm washing it up right now! This was after I specifically asked them not to wash my car.

Acura scores a whopping 1 out of 10 on service today. They didn't even call me like they said they would. I want my old service rep back!

No problem with M1 oil filters, but many problems with dealers. Welcome to the club.

Ohh well, I take everything I said about the dealer back. They did a good job. Even fixed my uneven muffler, and only charged me 61 bucks for the 22.5k service. (Initially set for 152 bucks(tax not included)

Yaa Acura.

Here's some data about Honda filters

http://www.ntpog.org/reviews/filters/filters.shtml

Turn your wheel all the way to the right, look in front of lower wheel well, you should see a silver mobil1 filter. If you see a blue filter, it's a Honda. Therefore I would suspect they didn't use the oil you brought them, it's now in the "oil changers" car. Do the napkin test I showed you. If you see black streaks its petro oil. Amsoil has hints of red after it soaks into the napkin.

I checked the oil filter before I left.
Does this napkin test look right?

dude, you better check under your hood to see if your filter is really in there. I'm wondering if the oil in your engine is the ones to brought to them. This dude may just want to keep the good stuff and give you some crap. you never know.

Looks ok but hard to tell exactly, take a little out of a new bottle and compare, if possible then compare to the dealers standard oil. Just go into the change area and get a sample from the end of their hose or a empty bottle. I can have it sent to the lab for $18. Or just wait for 3k miles and test again for black soot. I test mine at 10k and it is just starting to get this. Because they did use your filter your probably ok.

Next time bring it back to my Garage/shop, I only charge $10 to change oil.
