Potential New Owner of 2001 CL-S
Potential New Owner of 2001 CL-S
I'm looking for a 2001 - 2003 CL-S to do everyday commuting here in So Cal and wanted to find out if there is anything in particular to look out for with these vehicles. I've found a pretty mint looking Cerified 2001 S with Nav that has 64K miles and drives well. It has 4 new tires and brakes but I would like some feedback. The dealer is asking $16,995. Any help is appreciated.
Bump...

I've had mine 6 years. It is an early build 2001 (Mar 2000) and now have 102k miles on it and I still like driving it.
Weaknesses;
- Trans has an extended warranty to 7 yr/100k (Mine is still original)
- Trans has a "jet kit" to address first point. Mine has this installed. Opinions vary on it but mine does shift better with it.
- Brake rotors. They warp too easily and there arent any good stock size replacements (Rotora slotted are the closest).
- Motor mounts tend to break at least once in 100k miles. I've only lost 1 and it was $200 to fix. Again depends on how hard you are on the car.
Otherwise it is still a nice tight car even with that many miles on it, plus I avg 30mpg commuting (30% city/70% hiwy) but I drive it smoothly and dont race it. I plan to keep mine at least another year. Dealer service has been very good in my opinion (Glendale Acura and Valencia Acura).
Good luck.

In 2000, it was by far the best value for $30,000. Mine is almost 6 years old, 45,000 miles and runs like new. Amazing features for 30,000 in 2000. The tranny is the only weak point. Mine has been fine so far
. So far have only spent $150 (alternator belt tensioner) on it other than regular maintenances and that just involved oil, filters, and brake, tranny, and coolant fluids.
