Post your Supercharged gas mileage

Just looking to compare gas mileage numbers for those of us with the s/c. I have the 5AT. I went from 24 mpg average before to about 17 mpg after the s/c.

I have a 5AT on stock s/c pulley. The change in gas mileage is negligible...maybe give or take 20 km.

That's not bad at all. I have the High boost pulley-I am sure that makes some difference.

Yeah I can't see the s\c actually changing your gas mileage .. maybe a little because when out of boost it is a load on the engine just like A\C, but I can't see it dropping from 24 to 17. I think your foot just got heavier .. and with the extra air it needs to pump extra fuel, so obviously the more time you spend in boost the more extra gas its dumping in to compensate for the extra air.

The first full tank after the install, I got 28 mpg, but that was with the cruise control set at 80, almost the whole time, without touching the gas at all.

No change even with a 3.5L. I still get over 27 mpg if I am coasting on the FWY.

My average dropped from 19.5 to 18.2 in overall everyday driving. That's well worth the tradeoff

About $330 installed. I got the cut to fit for the front of the hood, front bumper, front of the fenders, and back of the mirrors. I love it. You can't see it unless your close to it and I haven't really gotten and rock chips since I got it. I have some above it on the hood so I know its working. Great investment IMO.

Prior to the SC, on 33 tanks of gas I averaged 24.8 mpg (with a range of 19-30mpg)

After the install, on 15 tanks on the street I have averaged 22.2 mpg (with a range of 19-27 mpg)

I went through 2 tanks of gas in one day at Road Atlanta after the install. I got 6 mpg on the first, and 7 mpg on the second.

Both the install of the supercharger and the track day at Road Atlanta were well worth the decrease in fuel economy to me!

I lost about 1-2 miles per gallon. At times even more due to racing, etc...

Hard driving (40% of the time on it): 18-21 MPG
Normal commute driving (75% freeway/25% city): 21-24 MPG
Freeway distance driving on cruise control @ 75-80 MPH: 28-30 MPG

Haven't gotten any real accurate readings yet. From my drive way to Orlando which is 256 miles, it took a full tank of gas. That was cruise control set at 95mph with my Valentine 1. When I got back, same scenario, same amount of gas. So my highway miles were not affected by the SC. I just took my lunch break today trolling for victims and getting use to the car and I could see the needle move. So I think around town driving is not going to be so great for gas mileage.

I just got my supercharger installed a week ago on my 6 speed. I filled up yesturday for the first time because I was waiting until gas prices came down to under $2.09. So in a week I should have a decent idea. Before the supercharger it was normally between 24-29, split up between highway and city.

Road Atlanta is a 12 turn 2.5 mile roadcourse with nice elevation changes. The track day there for advanced groups gives you 3 hours of track time (six 30 min sessions) in one day. I had to cut a couple of sessions short so that I would not run out of gas, and because my left front rotor caught on fire! Someone's ride spat oil, brake fluid or some flamable liquid on my front bumper and enough made it onto the rotor for it to ignite. I didn't even know it happened until they black flagged me into the pits. Apparently, whatever it was burned off very quickly with no harm done. I wish I had a picture of it!
Using Hawk HP plus pads and stock rotors, the rotors were absolutely toasted by the end of the day with several "grooves" cut into them which were about 2-3mm deep. Surprisingly, though, they were not warped!

On track, based on my prior experiences with my RX7s, S/C Civic, and ITR, I think I probably averaged about 70mph per lap in the CLS (with street tires) and might could have gone about 73-75 mph with competition rubber, and most definitely faster with big brakes. My top speed at the end of the back straight was typically around 125 mph before I had to start braking for turn 10. If I had had comp rubber, I think I would have gotten up to 128-130 mph because of much better exit speed out of turn 7. With big brakes, I might have even been able to get up to 132+, because my braking distance would decrease significantly.

I rarely time my runs, just pick out points on the track in the straights to see where my tach is as compared to where it was on previous laps. This allows me to evaluate my exit speed out of the corners. I do track days just for the thrill of it, and to improve my skills, not for the competition. It is fun, however to go around an occasional Turbo Porsche, Z06, Viper, Cobra, 360 Modena, etc. in a lowly FWD Honda or Acura!

Sorry, did not mean to hijack the thread, but this might be helpful to some to know what kind of mileage you can expect to get with about 175 miles of near constant VTEC action, WOT, curves, hills, a little oversteer, a lot of understeer, very hard braking, and the time of your life.

Yes I am. So happy in fact that I am having serious haunting thoughts of selling this car. I drove it again last night and this morning. It is so much more refined than the Evo and I'm affraid that I have been spoiled to a few things I thought that I was immune to being spoiled to (comfort, refinement, leather interior, heated seats, outside temp, homelink, cruise control, 27 mpg on the highway, and a 6 speed tranny to name a few). This weekend I'll be taking my Evo to Road Atlanta and see just how fun it will be there, then decide if it's worth it for the other 361 days of the year that I won't be at the track. I may be pulling the CL-s off the market, and putting the Evo on it. Who knows?

Good god its gotta be good if its making you have second thoughts about owning the EVO.

Hows the ride in the Evo?

The ride in the Evo is very stiff but not uncomfortable. I drove it down to Sebring without any complaints. It handles like it's on rails! Brakes better than anything I've ever driven (that includes a 996 Turbo)!

Let me also add this. I'm not blessed with a good reaction time, and I'm not skilled at drag racing. I'm still trying to figure out how to best launch the Evo for a quick start. I have found out that the clutch appears to be the weak link (despite the heavy pedal pressure), and will slip before the tires will let go (very sticky tires!).

I'm sure that I just have not learned how best to drive the Evo yet and get the most out of it, but if I were driving both cars to a quarter mile track, I'm convinced that the CLS would win! The acceleration is so close to me that I can't tell a difference (If I can maintain traction with the CLS - not easy!) between the two cars really. On a road course however, this Evo would smoke the CLS - no contest!

Well I finally got thru most of the tank and refilled again. I got 281 miles out of about 13.322 gallons, or about 21 mpg. It was my normal city/hwy mix, before s/c it was roughly 24mpg. This weekend I will be putting a couple hundred highway miles on so I will see how it does. After having the s/c for about 3 weeks I cant imagine going back to stock. Driving normally below 3k, nobody would ever know whats under the hood, above 3k it rocks! My main concern was how the clutch would hold up after 15000 miles, and so far not one problem.
