Of course I like this car. That's why I bought it and not something else. My purchase decision was made after comparison shopping all cars that I would consider for this purchase.

It's a great luxury sport coupe hybrid and works exactly as advertised and as I would expect, if not better, for a top car of its class.

I just wanted to share that......to make up for everybody complaining about the CL-S and wanting to get into something else. Well yesterday at my friends house while watching the superbowl one of the guys there which I didn't know to well shared with us that he just bought a 2003 Lexus GS 300. So the car buff that I am started to ask him like what options he has, how it drives and of course how much he paid. Well from what I gathered he spent close to $45k on this car that only has like 215hp and 200 tq does 0-60 in 7.8 seconds this is according to the brochure he just happen to have with him. As I was looking through the brochure every luxury item on the Lexus the CL-S had and then some. Needless to say I felt really bad cause he could of saved a furtune if he'd bought a CL-S or TL-S.

Then on my way home there was like 3 inches of snow on my car so I decided to test the heated side mirrors. Well the car defrosted almost all the snow off of it in no time and had no problem with traction all the way home.

Acura CL-S = Rocks
Michelin Pilot Sport A/S = rocks
I'd take fully loaded GS300 any time over CLS... So what if its only 1 second slower 0-60... depends on your priorities, if you like luxary better than perfomance GS300 is a better car... I agree its over-priced, but its better in quality and luxary aspects than CLS. But I do agree that CLS is a better value for your money, but still... lexus quality and luxary are above CLS...
You get what you paid for.... that's how most things are...

Lexus is a leader for many years in a long term reliability studies ( check out JDPower consumer reports ).

Did I mention that CLS transmission sux ?

I still love my car, but hey, some cars are just better than ours..... the only problem they cost more $$$

He was trying to stay outta your way just in case your tranny slips into park or something.
I agree its over-priced, but its better in quality and luxary aspects than CLS.
See, it's where your at. The GS 300 undercuts the same equipped 530 (525s don't count) E-class, it's main competition. The A6 can be more or less (the 2.7 t). So it's acutally under-priced. And it offers the SAME FEATURES.

Offering a lesser car with some features, IMO, is not a value, but a lesser car.
darrinb, there will be an even better GS when you are ready
I am sure it will be better luxury, feature and speed wise and cheaper, but we are very concerned with the looks.

This is silly. This is like the earlier post comparing the CLK to the Accord/CL-S. Yes, your car is faster and that is all.

first of all I would take a GS300 over my CL-S if they were the same price. Everyone is saying how good Lexus build and quality....the CL-S has more comfortable front seats than the GS, the engine well lets just say the if the GS430 is having a hard time keeping up with the CL-S doesn't say much, where is it better because they keep the same model car for like 7 years. The only aquiles with he CL-S is the auto tranny get a 6 speed and I doubt the Lexus will last longer. You guys have to remember the Acura Legend with the 3.2L in 94' with 230 hp. 0-60 in 6.6 and they are still around even with over 200k. Im sorry but Lexus being of better quality is still debatable remember it cost $15k more shit give a CL-S and $15 ,000 in my bank acc. collecting interest.

Dude, get this through your thick skull. Your car, a very nice car, is built in Ohio off the Accord platform. The GS is built in Japan and was purpose built to meet and beat the 5-series, E-class etc etc. Yes, they are not the most sporting cars stock, yes, the styling is not for everyone but without a doubt, Lexus cars are the MOST RELIABLE cars on the planet. Ask anyone that has owned one, read any long-term magazine report. #1 in reliability in not only NEW CARS but 5 year old cars.

Every other thread here is tranny this, rattle that, this don't work blah blah blah. So please, start to be a lil objective here.

And no one drives their Lexus harder than me on a daily basis and can you say never any problems in any of the cars.

dude your arguement is that 2+2=4
an apple is an apple, an orange is an orange, noted these are all obviously true. Your refusing to see clearly and see the reality in my post I guess its better to see things blurry.

That GS is horrible. Knock-offs, looks like a 64 that low. Yuck.

Here is a link to my car, the white one. I'm the guy in the red coat. http://www.clublexus.com/forums/show...5&pagenumber=1

Most idiots in a GS would jump on that. But I know, the CL-S is quick and a bad launch and I would be behind having to play catch up. I am shooting for gumetal wheels for the summer, SSR competitions possibly. Thanks.

That purple GS has a Rod Millen bodykit and a NETZ grill (Japanese grill).

I'd take the girl

1sicklex, i would say disregard all comments that compare the cl-s to a gs. i have a tl-s and a gs4, so i know all about the two. just dont get too worked up about these types of arguments.
btw, i drive both the gs and tls hard, neither have given me problems. the lexus does feel more solid as in its build quality. otherwise, acura seems to have good quality aside from tranny issues.
dont get me wrong though, i would definately take the gs4 over the tl-s anyday, but the price difference is what makes the tl-s such a great car.
oh one last note, the gs has rattles and creaking noises like an old house, so the rattle issue is doesnt just pertain to a tl or cl. actually, i think the gs rattles are getting even worse and they are louder and more noticable.

They are two different cars, both nice. One thing I like about the GS though is the attention to detail, like the surrounding chrome around the bumpers and body panels... Classy

1SICKLEX, don't be an asshole

i hate lexus. i hate the gs. i especially hate the IS 300...lexus styling is very weak. look at their large flagship sedan-so nasty. like you said...acuras are just pretty hondas....lexus is just a pretty toyota.

i love the cl-s. i agree with lou - a lot of the people on this board complain out the CL when it is such a great car. There seem to be a lot of 16-18 yr olds on this site with a brand new cl-s...i never had such a nice car when i was 16. If i had a CL-S when i was 16 there is no way in hell I would complain like this board does.

This should sum it all up!!

CL-S = $30K very cheap in comparison

CL-S Navigation = The best system in the market look it up. Acura rules

CL-S front seats = one of the most
comfortable seats in any car. look it up

CL-S speed factor= one of...if not the fastest FWD car made and can be made faster easily.

CL-S reliability = It is still a Honda and don't they rule the reliability market.

CL-S styling = very clean look and classy look.

CL-S warranty = On par with cars costing double and triple the price.

Problems with the CL-S:

CL-S = Tranny an issue that is unresolved but hopefully will be soon. Extended waranty anyways for 7/100

CL-S brakes = they are slightly weak but nothing Brembo can't fix

CL-S rattles = I for one don't have that issue since I dynamated the rear shelf when I got the car tinted. My car is as quiet if not quieter than any luxury car.

And that's it all when looking at it...the Pros surely outweigh the Cons. Please feel free to mention any other Pros that you can think of.

Everyone bitching about the problems needs to chill.

The only major problem is the tranny, and that hasn't even affected everyone. Who cares if it goes out? Acura will pick up the tab. There has been one instance of something horrible happening and the guy knew his tranny was about to die.

I'm keeping mine for another year, maybe 2. I have low miles, lotsa warranty left, and I want a house next........

Don't push it, $45K GS300 Lexus is by all means ABOVE CLS. I could understand if you compare CLS to Maxima and say its better.... but don't push it.
I think CLS is a good value for around 30K...

I love my CL...thats why I'm going to buy an extended warranty for it and keep it as a pimp daily driver....this way, I can get a toy (M3, Z06, 03' Cobra...or my all time favorite 93 Cobra) in a year or two.
All of the stuff that I have done...or plan on doing to the CL make it that much better.
For those that aren't content with thier CL...get rid of it, OR.....make it your own

darrinb, thanks. Hey, I remember that .
Seeing as I have driven the snot out of a friends 2003 CL-S 6 speed and my best bud has had a CL-S for the past year and a half and I find this kinda cool
That is the last post on that thread, what I wrote. I think some of ya'll need to appreciate your cars more. ALL CARS squeak, rattle, etc etc from time to time. Stop tripping on it so much. You ain't seen a man pissed until u see his 115k 600 Benz with rattles from the dash and the AC don't work.
