Possible headlight problem
Possible headlight problem
Usually when I pull into my garage at night, I turn off the headlights. Last night I didn't but as you know they automatically shut off. I forget something in the car and when I opened the door, the headlights came on, as usual.
But up against the front wall, I could see the blue light [from the headlights] shining and it appeared that the passenger headlight did not come on right away. There was a "less dim" spot on the wall (about a foot away) and it wasn't the driving light because I saw that spot, too. I know the lights take time to brighten-up but the passenger light was delayed and not nearly as bright as the driver light when they first came on. About a minute later, they were fine.
Is the light beginning to burn out? I repeated this a few times but after awhile, I couldn't because the lights just come on. Is there a possible problem? What is the lifespan of the xenons? Mine is 11 months and >23k old.

If you loose them, than no problem, get them replaced under warrantee...
Let Acura warry about that not yourself.

they can't burn out as there is nothing to burn out.
but i had that happen to me too when i was doing my road lamp replacement competition...constantly turning them on and off in 1 minute intervals after taking a picture.
the left one went out on me and i got worried, but i turned them off and back on and it went on fine. maybe a misfire from quick off/on? but i haven't had that problem since (haven't done any road lamp tests lately).

Assuming no other electrical failures H.I.D. lighting systems will most likely outlast the car itself. The two bulbs may have slightly different startup this is normal and not a cause for concern.Jens

Not that you can trust everything they say, but I asked about the Xenon life on my first test drive and the salesman told me they will easily outlast the car because there is no “element” to burn out.

yeah, i'm assuming the hid are like flourescent light starters. if i'm not mistaken hid's get less bright as time passes, though they never burn out.

In time the light output diminishes somewhat however on average these systems are designed to last 3500 hours plus before failure occurs.Your average halogen dies in a few hundred hours many times less as they are sensitive to shock.Jens
