I can see that gain in a V8, but that much of a gain in a V6 is not likely.

Depends

If you make the ports too big or port the wrong areas of the intake ports or combustion-chamber.. you will lose power if you are naturally aspirated. You almost always gain power if you use NOS or Turbo. Porting the Honda/Acura heads is a precision-job... every Tom, Dick and Harry can't do it.

I'd say a GOOD port-job will gain you about 15hp at the wheels give you have intake, exhaust, header and appropriate fuel-management. This port-job will cost you at least $2000.

Holly crap, did you get it professionally done?!?! How could this be?? A professional Port and polish should increase airflow, which in terms give you a few more ponies.. shouldn't be a decrease.

Okay.. well in that case, he should be happy with what he got, because supposely our cars already has somewhat of a port and polish over the none TypeS cars, so to squeeze another 10hp is quite good for a non-Force Induced car.

but take a forced induced car, and extrude hone the manifold and your gains will be significant compared to the 3-6whp. And you guys all complain that for 600$ you are only getting 3-6whp. Which sucks, but think, viper guys are buying headers for close to 2K and getting about the same gains. However all these things will work good in the long run when you have a full package together.

OK I just spoke with John on the phone. He increased hp and torque throughout the whole range. His max hp was 242, and a little over 200 pounds of torque. In certain places he had a bigger increase in hp. A lot of tuning was done with his v-afc and air/fuel controller. Although it doesnt sound like much of a gain, I personally belive this should be enough to get John into the 13s. He will post the dynos as soon as he has a chance.

Mike, I know what you're saying.. I was just pointing out the simple fact that Acura is using it as a selling point for the TypeS models. I would love to find out more from johntypes on where did he get this p&p done at, I'm very interested.

CompTech now has four stages of developing your engine. I think one of them was the subject of your thread. It should give you the HP and price. Try under 'machine shop.' It's there and you'll find it.
