I assume this is what is called "port and polished" ?
What type of gains are associated with doing this ?

Only if:

(1) The intake manifold inlet port is matched in size
(2) Appropriate increases in fuel pressure or injector DC are tuned in

I currently run a ported TB (stock one that is ported out) and it works well with FI. I did run a very large TB (much larger than a ported stock one) and it worked wonders

I've had mine on the car for over a year, the wall thinkness is fine.

Just FYI, I will have one or two in stock pretty soon. The first one is in transit from King Motorsports right now but is spoken for. When that core comes back it gets shipped off to King. This will be in addition to having a complete upper and lower PnP manifolds available, the first two are also spoken for.

I called king to have mine ported and polished and they were telling me it is useless without doing the traction unit in front of it too, they said they would'nt do it! Is that true? it was about eight months ago

There is some truth to this. The VSA throttle is in front of the TB and if it is smaller than the TB it becomes a hinderance limiting the potential of the TB porting. Some people are looking at removing the VSA throttle alltogether at which point the TB is the limitation.

I've heard people (Bigman) have had success putting the CLS TB on a TLP. Definitely gonna be my next mod.

Work in progress, since he placed an order for an auto tranny (Dr. Evil) to handle at least 500 crank HP. Once he gets that (in about 4 weeks) plus Steve's IC/e-Manage kit, installation will take place sometime in October along with CLS heads, manifold and custom block with 9.0:1 CR.
I dont expect any dyno before he breaks-in his Frankenstein motor

Yep. But the one you've seen is TAG's silver AV6 another crazy one , my buddy also lives in Chicago and has black AV6 with the following mods not yet installed:

* Comptech S/C (CL-S HB pulley) kit * UR s/c crank pulley *
Mo Pawa coming soon: * Hope Systems IC * CLS lower manifold * ported CLS throttle body * CLS cylinder heads * custom JE 9.0:1 pistons * custom Crower rods * custom prepped block * Greddy e-Manage kit * Dr. Evil tranny * Mugen Thermostat and fan switch * Denso IK22 plugs * s/c pulley 10psi * Rotora Big Brake kit * SSR Competition or Kosei K1 TS (17x8) rims * Nitto 555R 245/45/17 fronts (track only) * Michelin Pilot PS2 225/45/17

Also his block will have custom larger/stronger sleeves with larger pistons (see above compression).

Yep that had to be him, it was silver. It wasn't done at the time I was there getting a dyno. Is it done now and did they dyno it?

As far as I know he expecting custom pistons to fit his 3.5L.
Then after break-in dyno will come.

Was at the shop for a dyno today. Say the baby still sitting there. The owner said the same thing, still waiting for sleeves and something else(i don't remember) due to the cl-s heads.
