This is a poll to see how many people here have still not done the 105,000 mile/7 Year Timing belt service yet. I am posting the poll because all of our cars have passed the 7 year deadline.

just bought it - 75k on it and I'll be doing everything shortly - belt, tensioner, PS/serp belts with aluminum acc/underdrive pulleys & water pump. Should be fun. I'm so excited! *hint of sarcasm*

Do it now! My '03 CLS had 95k on it back in november. Timing Idler pulley seized up, overheated, shot hot BBS all over, and locked up my timing belt, which wiped out both of my heads. Luckily I could rebuild my heads, but still had to replace all 24 valves, and 2 seats. I did the work myself and was still out a pretty penny with towing, renting a car while I worked on my car, etc.
Its not worth waiting at all...

Paying $600-800 for being overly cautious > taking a risk and running the possibility of the belt snapping and doing serious mechanical damage.
Hell, I'd say it wouldn't be "overly cautious" since it is a factory recommended interval.

Wow. I think I'm going to get mine done very soon then, after I get my headers and pulley installed. I don't want to risk anything....

Yeah I'd hate to pick on pits, but his experience with a snapped timing belt was enough to scare me out of waiting to do the service... Although his was a result of negligence from the mechanic, I think the damage done would have been the same regardless of how or why the timing belt would have snapped.

Mine is still under AcuraCare warranty and gets all work done at a dealership and they told me I don't need to do anything yet (75k) so I have yet to do the service. Warranty is up in November so if I still have it I will make sure it is done by then.

I'd probably still have my car if I never changed my timing belt. I waited till 7 yrs 150k miles and had a local shop do the job. Less than a year later, one of the bolts sheared off and there goes my engine.
But on a sidenote, my timing belt was in great condition after 150k. But like the guy above, it's typically not the timing belt that goes. Its the water pump or one of the pulleys which will reek havoc.
If you're only going to have to change the timing belt once though, why stretch it. Just get the job done and know you'll never have to worry about it again on this car.

I've done two of them so far, and doing the timing belt def is a pain in the nuts, but like has been said already, it's not worth it to put it off. i'm a big advocate of doing things yourself- that way you know it gets done and you know it gets done right. or you fuckup and go find help haha...
