Please have a look at this price!

CL-P w/Navi, spoiler, wheel lock, mud guide, cargo net -----------$29,000

Any comment? I have tried to low it down to $28,600 so that I could save some money for the wood trim set, but failed. Maybe, I am able to low it to $28,800.

By the way I went to the dealer in boston area. Anyone got a good deal in this area?

Thanks a lot.

You should be able to get it for 28000- 28500. Just hold out. The CL-P's are not selling as good as the TypeS. Also make sure they don't try to **** you with a high interest rate. In fact finance it through someone else and bring them a check.

$29,000 sounds kinda pricey. I've heard people getting a CL-S for that kindof price...

What do your guys think is a decent price if I add the wood trim(only behind the wheel) and the burlwood shift knob?

Thanks.

yeah, i think it is way too high for a cl-p even if that is the out-of-door price.

i suggest you negotiate for the out-of-door price, so that you leave no room for the dealer to play price game.

the price quote on my non-nav cls with wheel locks, cargo net back in last november was 28400. i think you should pay max of 28k out-of-door.

Thank you all for your comments, and let us do the math,

Invoice CL-P w/NAVI: $27,329 + Destination Charge: $480
= $27809

$27809 + spoiler: $600 (in general, my dealer told me $700)= $28409

$28409 + mud guide/wheel lock/cargo net $150 (not quite sure here)= $28559

$28559 + wood trim/wood knob(not the whole kit) $260 = $28819

$28819 + dealer profit $200 = $29019

Any comment on this caculation? Is every price reasonable? Which one I could be able to cut down? Thanks a lot.

I'll preciate if someone can tell me how your guys persuade the dealer throw in all the accessories free.

This price is for the CL-P, but with the navigation system and spoilder, the price of these two together will be a little bit more than the price difference between the CL-P and CL-S.

Dodowolf is right. A CLP w/ nav should be about the same as a CLS with no nav. Add the spoiler and you're looking at more than a base CLS

Nup. I hope you didn't pay that much. The burlwood knob from the dealer only lists for about $95. That smooth knob in your hand is zen like.

I guess prices vary from region to region. I bought mine (CL-P Non Nav) on 2/10/01 for $26571.00. BTW I live in So. Cal.

26200.00 including dest
329.00 spoiler
42.00 locks and flaps

I did not want to spend the money on the spoiler, but it was on the car. The spoiler is the same kind I have seen on other CL's. I assume the cost (on the spoiler) was the dealers cost on the part not including installation. The car was built on 12/00 so I assume the car sat on the lot 4-6 weeks.

The cargo net comes with thecar, there is no need to spend extra money for one. I had one dealer wanting to charge me for the floor mats, which also comes with the car.

Edmunds "TMV" (True Market Value) calculates the price for the same vehicle at $28,316. Adding in your given price for a dealer installed spoiler ($600) and the wood kit ($260) to the TMV price above we get a figure of $29,176. Unless somebody can tell us different the cargo net comes with the car. So the price you posted of $29000 doesn't seem so bad.
Maybe you can get him to drop the destination charge. I didn't pay that charge as an incentive to buy and I know some others got the destination charge dropped also.

The mud guards and the wheel locks should be what the dealer is going to throw in FREE OF CHARGE because he is grateful for your choosing him to buy a car from.

Why is he grateful?

#1 Because his invoice price of $27,329 in addition to his invoice cost of spoiler (around $400), and other options you want (around $300), still gives him a profit of somewhere around $1000.

#2 Dodo now this refers to your request about getting salesmen to "throw in accessories". Dodo, assuming that you do not absolutely need this car immediately remember, that time is on your side. I can tell by your numerous posts that your anxious to buy. This works against you as the salesman is trained to exploit this. For you to get things "thrown in" you must not show anxiety. I know it isn't easy for anybody, let alone young people but it does work in most cases. If he doesn't budge on some options let him think your talking to other dealers about Acura's and even other brands of cars (Infiniti I30, Lexus IS300..etc) . Stand firm. You must let him know that you will walk away and go somewhere else. He's got unsold cars on his lot that take up space that he must pay for. The manufacturer, in this case Acura, gives a dealer "holdback" money for 90 days. This money help the dealership to defray the cost of keeping the unsold car on his lot BUT ONLY FOR 90 DAYS! The longer that car sits there on his lot the less holdback money he can pocket. Its pure profit if he sells cars in less than a 90 days. Ater 90 days goes by then he must pay out of his own profits. So you must be patient and get the deal you want not the deal he wants. One thing to remember with this being said is to not blow a deal for something very minor. Also remain calm, be prepared to walk if necessary and for gods sake don't let the salesman see you drooling all over the car you like!

Good luck

btw Carsdirect.com lists a price of $28,509 for a CLP w/Navi.

Thank you all for these great information. One thing I have to say is that I kind of don't fully trust the TMV price in edmund. For example, the TMV price for TL is $27,613, but a lot of people post that they got it for around $26600. $1000 difference, so I only go from the invoice price.

Let me ask,

$28800 for CL-P w/Navi, spoiler, wood trim, burlwood shif knob, mud guide, wheel lock, (cargo net - maybe already in the car acording some post), is this a good price? What is an acceptable price for your guys to sign the paper work if you buy this car at current market condition.

By the way this price did not include the documentation fee. Is that true that documentation fee is always added after you finalize the price? It seems to me true from the experience in two dealers' place.

Again, thanks a lot.
